Cages?

Well I've been doing some online shopping for a cage and I just dont know what to pick >.< I'm leaning more towards a ferret nation since they have good reviews and look nice, safe, and stable. Is a single unit big enough for a single ferret? Or should I go ahead and spring for the double? Does anyone have any other cages that they really recommend? Thanks again guys for putting up with all my newbie questions and I hope you're all having a good day!

Ferret Nations are by far, the most popular on the forum. I have a cage for emergencies, it's a Marshall Folding Mansion. It's fine since we don't use it, but difficult to get into it for cleaning.

Agreed, Ferret Nations (FN) are by far the best! Granted I haven't had too many cages, but I love this the best. Just got it last week, but it's been great! holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/14724/new-ferret-homeWhat I like about it is it so easy to clean. The doors open up wide and have plenty of space to move things in and out. My opinion would be, if you can afford it, go all out and get the double! But what's nice too is if you can't right now, you can always add on later. But I gotta say I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my double FN! Ow and so does Pepe

as long as you let your ferret out every day for playtime (required no matter how big your cage is) you can get by with a single level ferret nation with 2 ferrets. The cage is huge compared to pretty much anything else out there. You don't realize how big it is until you see it in person. as a mater of fact it will be easier to litter train if you start small and then go larger later with the expansion cage. I think it is the only cage that you can grow the cage along with your business. Midwest cage really understood the concept of ferret math.

FN by far. I have 6 and a critter nation. I've had a number of other cages, Marshals Mansions which I tore apart to make my hob cages (they're still garbage), and other cages of various sizes and shapes. To be honest only the FN thought about how their ferrant could get into the cage to clean. The best cage even the newer model (182) which isn't as good as the 142 ciao

Oh yes, ferret nation is awesome! When we got our first baby, we had one of those super pet "3" level plastic cage which I thought was great. Ugh, once you go fn, you'll never look back! I'd suggest getting the double unit because you'll probably get another baby And you can separate the levels to make 2 single units (Oh, it is huge; to give you an idea, I'm 5'4" and it's taller than I am!) If you get it online, look for coupon codes (there's always something) Have fun shopping!

Yep, ferret nation all the way. They are worth the money. As others have said. They are the easiest cage to clean.

Definitely the Ferret Nation is the way to go.
A single unit would be fine for just 1 fuzzy, but a double unit would be like a dream home to one. If you want to save a little money though, keep an eye on your local Craigslistings; as well as some of the online sales on the ferret E-tailer sites.
I remember a few months ago for example, Petsmart was selling the new FN 182 on sale for $125! It does not happen very often though, so sometimes watching Craigslist is better. I watched Craigslist for a couple months before we bought our FN, and I saw a number of the double units pop up from $60 - $200!

I got mine from Craigslist! Had to drive 3 hours to get it, but for $125 it was worth it! My single ferret is in hog heaven! And I don't feel as bad on Tuesday's when the kids have sports after work and he is not able to come out as long or at all. I have the double.

i love my ferret nation, easy to put together, very easy to clean, easy to decorate, and a goo damount of room. a single unit would be fine for one or 2. imo you dont really need a huge cage if your ferrets are let out a lot. i have a double unit since i just wanted the biggest i could afford, but the cage is only used for night time or when im out of the house
