I just recently taken in a hobo cat that's been stuck in the rain. I took the cat into the vet and unfortunately he wasn't chipped. He seemed to have some kind of eye infection and I was worried that he would loose his eye. So, I had them check him for cat diseases and help fix his eye with medicine. For the time being until I can find him a proper home, he's going to be staying here. They told me all of his tests came back negative and that he's perfectly healthy, except for things they can't find such as herpes. (They don't think he has it). Obviously, I'm not going to let my ferret alone with this cat since I don't really know how it reacts. I don't want them in the same room loose, however is there anything I should be cautious about my ferret retracting? From my clothes? Where the cat walks? Anything? I'm always so nerves when it comes to diseases and sicknesses! Thanks!

Hi and Welcome to the HFF (wave) That's very sweet of you, to rescue the poor little kitty. I would be super careful, he might be use to foraging for his own food and confuse a ferret with a mouse. The one thing that comes to mind is fleas. I don't know what part of the world, that you are in, but fleas are an issue in my area. We brought home a Warehouse Cat and were suddenly infested with fleas. There are alot of ferrants on the forum with Cats, let's see if any of them know of any other possible contagions.

Thank you so much poncesmom! I looked into the fleas. Right when I brought him into the house I gave him a flea bath and put on some cat frontline. That's how chill the cat is, he let me give him a bath.

He sounds like a sweetie. My only concern then would be that he would possibly consider your ferret prey.
