I think I'm starting to catch on, I've also been reading through people's mentoring threads now haha. It's after 12am So this might be my last post for the night! So by bone meals, do you mean like chicken wings? Things that have small bone in them? And added up thats 14 meals. Is that two meals a day for a week guidelines? Is there a list someone where that just kind of gives examples of what you could use for each catagory? So I can make sure I give a variety? Thank you so much

Bone in meals mean consumable bone. So yes, chicken, cgh, turkey necks, lamb neck, ox tail, some duck bone, quail, rabbit, whole prey

I'm going to the grocery store armed with a list to see what our small town place might actually carry I'm not sure I can stomach hole prey just yet haha, I watched a couple videos and I was just like omg haha. Its different watching a snake eat a mouse then a ferret. I'm sure given time I can get over this

Btw, what can I substitute in the soup for the eggshell until I have a mortar or grinder? Pumpkin?

Eggshell is actually a supplement for bone. You can also use bone meal powder or cuttle bone (for birds). Pumpkin is a fiber replacement. It mimics the fur and indigestibles of whole prey.

And you certainly don't have to feed live prey, which is what I'm assuming you saw in those videos. I don't I buy frozen mice, and feed those

So my shopping experience ended in boneless chicken, chicken wings, liver, gizzards. Our store no longer carries hearts :/ Your right, I was and ferrets are crazy hunters Hmm, I could try frozen! I wish we had a closer pet store or something that sold that sort of thing. I went to our walmart today and they don't even carry ferret food or hammocks. I just wanted shampoo! lol And we have no pet stores.

Mine get hearts in a heart giblet mix from food city. Dont worry about the shampop ferrets actually don't need baths ;-)

Do you have any butchers in your area? Any heart will do. Beef, pork, lamb, turkey. I don't know if this is feasible for you, but you can also order online. Otherwise, you will really need a taurine supplement, and be feeding mainly darker meats. The more a muscle is used, the more taurine develops in it. Which is why hearts are ideal.

Yeah I'm going to do some calling around this weekend. This is such a huge farm and ranch area that there are bound to be some butchers. The lady at the grocery store told me that hearts used to come with the giblets but that they didn't any longer. I did make a soup with chicken, one liver, a tsp of pumpkin, and some egg powder. He licked it once and wouldn't touch it again haha. I found that if run enough my little bullet blender does a pretty good job of powdering egg shells

Butchers are the best. If you are in ranching country, you'll probably have somebody that dresses the game during hunting season. Not everyone wants to skin, clean and butcher their deer or duck or whatever. Taxidermists are a thought too. Go see these guys about scraps and sources of meat if you can't find them at the store. (Hammocks are easy. Your own old rags or Joanne' Fabric is probably an easier way to make a hammock than the drive you'll have if you can't find one. Just get some fleece, or other fluffy material, cut it into an eighteen by eighteen inch square and stitch some cord or shoelace or something of that sort at each corner. If you can find the clips, stitch or tie those on the end of the cords so you can hang it up.) Wrong spot, but I didn't help myself

I know how to make hammocks I actually just made him a floor tunnel and a sleeping tube with fleece lol. I used to sew sugar glider stuff for a friend of mine, but I'm to lazy to sew anymore haha. I was just using it as an example, because I normally can at least find that at a walmart. The nearest Joanns is an hour away, but luckily our walmart does have a small fabric section I'll do some calling on Monday for butchers. Everything will be closed tomorrow haha. Thanks for all the advice!
