Hello! Bea is doing really great! She still has been eating all of the slivers bigger ones too. Now that we are back home I think I am going to go ahead and increase the size and amount of the slivers. I definitely think there has been a break through Also, in two weeks I start my second year of grad school. It's the summer intensive so I will be living away from home for two months. I'm thinking I wont have much free time and I know that there is a waiting list to get a mentor, so I think that I'll have to withdrawl from the mentoring program when I go back to school. Is there anyway that you can give me a plan of action before I go? Bea will be coming with me.

Is there anyway that you can give me a plan of action before I go? Bea will be coming with me. Great news on the chunks! (dance) As for withdrawing from the program, I really don't recommend that at such a critical stage. Do you have easier access on FB perhaps? I can always copy the messages here to keep track. I used to have a whole overview of the switch written up, but I lost it when my computer HD died. I might be able to find it somewhere though. Obviously I can't stop you from withdrawing if that's what you need to do, but I certainly don't suggest or support it. With her being borderline insu, and at such a critical stage of the switch it makes me super nervous to just send you off. Could you perhaps get her onto commercial grinds? You would have to order from HareToday or RadCat, but you can get grinds of whole animal so you could at least have that as a balanced option to fall back on, so you could know that she has variety and balance, and you could work on adding in chunks and bones from there. So not giving up on getting her to Frankenprey, but getting her to a better, safer middle point first - a sort of landing on the stairs that is at least a safe fallback... Let me know what you are willing to do. I am willing to work with you as long as we have a plan. I just really, really don't want to send you off at the chunky soup stage as that is an extremely critical point of the switch.

LittleBea, i have alot of experience with insulinoma. I assure you the best thing to manage it is a balanced raw diet. I highly recommend that you not abandon your app for the switch. Kibbles contain starches and/or grains. You will only exacerbate the problem.
I know how tough grad school is. I went to grad school myself. Katt your mentor is in medical school herself. Just slow and steady and you can accomplish a switch. It is not too time consuming. Just need to be patient

Considering your little one's health issues I would have some real concerns about withdrawing from the mentoring program at this time. Work with Katt on the timing of your communications. I know that you're life is busy and hectic but this is not the time you want to put this on a holding pattern. You and your little one will benefit from the continued support ciao

I was planning on moving forward. I'm just not sure how great I'll be at checking in. But I'm only down there for two months then I'll be back home. Things are already getting busy with me finishing up work and getting my stuff packed. With that being said, I am still feeding Bea the raw diet, I wouldn't ever think of going back to kibble. I'm excited about bringing her to Portland because I'll have access to way more variety as far as different meats go. Thanks Miami for the link, I'll check it out. I'll try to keep up with it add maybe we can connect via fb that might help.

That is good to hear! And while you are so busy a commercial raw diet just may be the way to go for you both

I prefer to work with only occasional updates than to not work at all. I am more than happy to correspond on FB tops you can look me up and add me, I'm in the forum FB group. Katt Crouch. Just PM me so I know who you are and don't accidentally ignore your friend request. I'm very glad to hear that you will continue, I definitely want to keep working with you and Bea to get her on track. Let me know if you want to go the commercial grind route. Keep in mind it will be balanced and you can always add in some larger meats or move to a Frankenprey based diet later. I am a big fan of HareToday grinds personally bc they don't have Any plant products/veggies in their grinds like some do. They also have a very good reputation, and their customer service is decent as far as answerig Q's about specific %'s of the grinds and such. RadCat also has a good rep, and I believe is pre balanced. Some of their grinds do have a small % of veggie matter though (5% or less I believe, I would have to double check). I would avoid Nature Variety if possible for now, because I know for sure that they have veggies in their grinds. They aren't bad, still way better than kibble, but with Bea's borderline BG I would like to stay away from non meat ingredients as much as possible.

I think I still like the sounds of making her mix for her. I'll have time to make her food, but if things get crazy I might get the HareToday whole rabbit grind. I really want to keep her 100% veggie free.

I think I still like the sounds of making her mix for her. I'll have time to make her food, but if things get crazy I might get the HareToday whole rabbit grind. I really want to keep her 100% veggie free. Okay we can keep on with the slow plug and chug then. The one issue is she MUST have variety. So if you order from HareToday for example you're going to need more than just ground rabbit (unless you are planning on supplementing with yor current grocery store meats of course). I believe HT has whole ground goat, and a few other whole grinds (and they are all veggie free!), so there are some options there. I have no problem whatsoever working with you posting when you can, as long as we have discussed it and I know that's the plan vs not being sure what's going on of wondering if you dropped off the radar. I think we have a good plan and we will just keep moving along at whatever pace you and little Miss Bea are able to handle stubborn wise (her) and schedule wise (you). I am very happy you are sticking around and sticking with it! (dance) Because you will be posting less often though, if you can post as much detail as you can RE what she has been eating that will be a big help. Particularly proteins and consistency (chicken, beef soup, ground turkey, goat slivers in chicken soup, etc) and size of slivers with a rough ratio to soup. That way even with less frequent updates I will still have an idea each time of where she is at and what I can suggest next.

I think I'm doing a pretty good job at variety. Every time I make her soup it's a bit different in terms of different proteins. Her last soup had half chicken and half ground beef (both antibiotic and hormone free). Chicken heart and beef liver (both from a local farm). Right now her slivers are chicken and sometimes I put a chunk of ground bison in there, but I am almost out of that. I'll work on giving her different proteins for the slivers too. The farmers market in Portland is great, so hoping to find some fresh meats there, like goat.
