Hello (wave) Hearts: They were eating hearts and also received dried hearts as treats. I think they just weren't terribly hungry this morning. We had some new boxes in the living room, and that was much more interesting. I took the pork and brains out, we will try those tomorrow. Should I make the soup with pork brains and three livers, or make the soup with chicken and liver? If I make it with pork brains and three livers, I won't know if it's the brains or the liver, they object to. :thankyou: Stef

Okay. Go ahead and do the normal amount of liver and add brain then. OR you can alternate soup meals with one soup brains+chicken and the other liver+chicken.

Good Morning (wave)
Just a short note about Breakfast. Roamy and Juliet were up this morning, before Wynstan and Mika. They both a really good meal of last night's hearts. Then Juliet ate a bowl of liver soup with some hearts in it. I added some warm water to the soup and it was very wet. She really seemed to like it that way. That was the soup that was all liver. (dance)
Wynstan and Mika didn't want any breakfast, when they got up. We have a room full of boxes and that was far too interesting and everyone was playing like crazy. They are napping now, so I will be trying the pork and brains, when everyone is ready for Brunch.
:thankyou:

Lunch went pretty well. Everyone (except Mika) had a few slices of pork in some FDR gravy. Juliet ate a bowl of liver soup with some pork slices in it. Mika only ate two tiny pieces. She seems to want to eat in the middle of the night. Her energy level was very good today, so I'm not worried.

Good Evening (wave)
We got up early this morning, and went to Nashville for the day. We had so much fun. Our goal was to hit some really neat markets, that we had read about. Also, we wanted to search out organs and other exotic foods for the little guys. Our first stop was an amazing Italian market (in Germantown, ha ha) and then a terrific lunch (we felt so civilized in this cool urban neighborhood). We hit paydirt in an Asian market. Here is what we bought: Pork kidneys/pork heart/pork tongue/pork liver Quail eggs... (dance) Duck wings Duck heart chicken necks Beef bones (for the marrow) Beef kidney Beef intestines
What do you think? We were so happy and now know a good source for just about everything. Plus it gives us an excuse to visit Germantown.
For their breakfast, everyone had some pork. They will eat it without the gravy, they just eat more of it, with the gravy. I left a bowl of just pork, a bowl of pork with gravy and a bowl of just livers, for them to snack on, while we were out. Everyone was napping, when we came home. I checked out the bowls and I don't think anyone ate anything. We will see if they want dinner.
We will be home all day tomorrow, I'm going to try the pork brains. We haven't done those yet and I will do a liver soup for dinner.
:thankyou: Stef

(dance) Duck wings Duck heart chicken necks Beef bones (for the marrow) Beef kidney Beef intestines(dance) Fantastic finds! Definitely load up on the kidneys (tongue is great btw, good source of taurine). Duck is great, it is a nice fatty poultry meat. You don't really need marrow IMO, but some swear by it as a supplement so it certainly won't hurt. What do you think? We were so happy and now know a good source for just about everything. Plus it gives us an excuse to visit Germantown.I think - get a little of everything! ROFL For their breakfast, everyone had some pork. So did anyone eat anything from what was left out? We will be home all day tomorrow, I'm going to try the pork brains. We haven't done those yet and I will do a liver soup for dinner.Expect pork brain poops to be messy and probably a bit pale.

Good Morning (wave) This morning for breakfast, we had pork slices. Roamy and Wynstan ate quite well, they finished off half a pork chop. I will start weighing the meat, for a more accurate idea of what they are consuming. I also put out some pork brains, Juliet took a few pieces and ran off. Wynstan and Roamy seemed to think that I was trying to poison them. I also made a pork brain soup, with some pork meat and watered it down well. Still no takers. Mika didn't eat anything at all. I need to get her to eat in the morning. She's been getting up for a 2 a.m. feeding. She may be my baby, but 2 a.m. feedings are just ridiculous. (headwall) We did buy all of the above meats/organs. Tongue was still so high priced, but I'll pop back into my local store and pick up some tongue. I want to take a close look at the pork liver. It was square shaped and looked weird. Maybe it's smoked? If so, I know not to offer it. I'll look online today and see what a fresh pork liver looks like. We stopped into several pet stores, looking for two more leashes for the girls. Every pet store that we have checked out, in the last several weeks, have been sold out of ferret leashes. I like to think that all the little Tennessee ferrets are getting to go on walks, and having fun outside. I'll have to order some from Amazon. It's going to be a challenge getting a leash on Juliet, she is so slim. Okay, I'm off to eat some yummy Chocolate Almond croissants, from a heavenly bakery, we discovered yesterday. I plan on watching movies and just eating all day long. My little ones will be eating pig today and I will be eating like a pig today. (giggle) I'll check in after dinner. I hope your Sunday is as leisurely, and hopefully without any Neuro! (dance)

Hello (wave)
Update on Brunch. Everyone except Mika seems to love Pork. Everyone (except Mika (headwall)) had two helpings of pork slices (about 10 or 15 lunula sized pieces) NO gravy. (dance) Around 2:00 p.m. Mika was hungry and wouldn't touch the pork. I put a few slices into some FDR gravy and wrapped a duck, duck, goose around the pork. She did eat about five pieces of pork wrapped in the ddg. She's a healthy, chubby little girl. After tonight, I will skip the gravy for her and let her get a little hungry and see if she is more likely to eat. It's funny too, she came home and went straight to raw. She would eat anything, when she was a Tummy with Teeth. (giggle)
:thankyou: Stef

Great Success with Dinner (dance) I made a batch of liver soup, two livers and a half pork chop. 1/8 tsp eggshell powder, a drop of oil, and maybe one ounce of warm water. I've learned they like it wet. Roamy got up, while I was putting out a bowl and he ate 1/4 cup of the soup. Then Mika (dance) was awake and just sitting on the couch. So, I picked her up and put her on my lap and she ate a full 1/4 cup of soup. I'm just so happy! I've left a bowl of soup and a bowl of sliced pieces of pork out for the night. Wynstan and Juliet should get up to play, in the next half hour or so. I'm hoping they will also eat. Agree I feel so much better about Mika, I was beginning to really worry about her. I don't have to worry about Paul eating. I made pretzels and pretzel bread today, and he is on his second sandwich and fifth pretzel. (giggle) Talk to you tomorrow and :thankyou: Stef.

Still no takers.Just an FYI the only real reason to do that is to help you know how much to prepare each day. Otherwise monitoring Their weight is what is important. Sounds like pork is going well. Let's get to work on those bones so we can introduce the duck! (dance) Have you given crushed bones another try yet? Start offering them a bone-in meal at LEAST every other day, moving up to every day as they get used to eating it. You will want to cut back on the powdered eggshell in the soup gradually as they start eating more of the bone too - you will have to watch their poops closely. Too hard = too much bone, too soft = not enough. As for the brain, I'm not too surprised at the boys. Silly ferts. Try starting smaller. If not, you can mix it into the liver organ soup. Mika didn't eat anything at all. I need to get her to eat in the morning. She's been getting up for a 2 a.m. feeding. She may be my baby, but 2 a.m. feedings are just ridiculous. (headwall)Um spoiled much? lmao Are you leaving food out 24/7 for them? We did buy all of the above meats/organs. Huh, should just look like a big liver...it could be the way it is cut. Pork liver is more firm than chicken liver, but it should be similar in texture... Okay, I'm off to eat some yummy Chocolate Almond croissants, from a heavenly bakery, we discovered yesterday. I plan on watching movies and just eating all day long. My little ones will be eating pig today and I will be eating like a pig today. (giggle)Oh yum! I am insanely jealous!

Let's cut it back to 3 times a week now since the liver amount is increasing. Try replacing the pork chop with brains and see what they think....If no go, then add a little pork or chicken to that. Experiment. I feel so much better about Mika, I was beginning to really worry about her. I don't have to worry about Paul eating. I made pretzels and pretzel bread today, and he is on his second sandwich and fifth pretzel. Ugh will you come feed me? You keep talking about all of this delicious sounding food! I want some!!!! *drools* roflmao

Good Morning (wave) We have made so much progress with the soup and pork. Last night, right after I turned out the lights, Juliet got up and wanted Dinner. She ate a good size portion of the soup and had a few pork slices. This morning, everyone was up and playing. We came downstairs and everyone finished off the rest of the soup, ate some pork slices and then everyone tasted two Quail eggs. The soup from last night, is all gone and most of the pork slices are also gone. (dance) Tonight's dinner will be a little pork/pork brains and some liver. Tomorrow, we will start the Duck. 1. I will offer the crushed bones, every other day. So, tomorrow will be Duck wings and I should crush those with the cleaver, right? I bought 4 Duck wings, so I will put out two wings. 2. Since I don't have enough duck for soup, I will offer chicken soup with liver at night. The soup will be three times a week, now. So, Tuesday-Thurs-Sun of this week will be liver/soup. I have been leaving food out 24/7, I will start putting out food at the same time every day. then pick it up after an hour or so, or when I have made sure everyone has eaten. I would love to be able to feed you, I have a huge Need To Feed. I thought that after the Air Force, I might like to work in the food industry. I took a semester of Cooking School and discovered that while I love food, I like dressing up and going into a lovely restaurant, much better than working in a hot, steamy kitchen. I'm also suppose to be on a Gluten Free diet, but took a short break to reward myself for spring cleaning. April 1st is back to the GF, bathing suit weather is right around the corner. :thankyou: Stef
