In light of the fact that ferret emergencies typically happen late at night when the normal world is sleeping, and that many members do not have facebook for IM access, we have decided to create a sort of backup emergency system. Oftentimes posts in this board get buried or may not immediately be noticed. If you are posting under this (Emergency!) board and would like to draw more immediate notice to your thread, you can now send an email containing a link to your Emergency Thread to the address below. Several of our admin have access to this email and should receive a phone notification if they are awake, allowing them to pop in here and check the thread.
hff.emergency@gmail.com
FIRST AND FOREMOST, HFF is absolutely, under NO circumstances, a replacement for proper and timely medical care. We are merely here for backup support until you can get your ferret to a vet. IF EVER IN DOUBT, GET TO A VET IMMEDIATELY.
In most emergency situations, even a regular dog and cat vet can at least keep your ferret stable until a ferret experienced vet can be reached. When in doubt, treat as you would a kitten.
If you make a post under the Emergency! board and want to receive more immediate attention, send an email containing:
Your HFF username
A link to your thread in this board
Do NOT post a full description of the issue in the email - we will not go back and forth via the emergency email. All conversations will occur on the boards.
If you have facebook, you are also always welcome to send any of the admin a PM there as well.
Again, I stress - we are NOT in ANY way here to replace vet care. In any emergency you should immediately contact your closest veterinarian, and get your ferret in to be seen as soon as possible. We are here to provide backup support and advice only.
As stated in our Forum Rules: The Holistic Ferret Forum encourages ferret owners to consult with a veterinarian for proper diagnoses and recommendations before using any remedies. You acknowledge that any reliance on material posted on the Holistic Ferret Forum will be at your own risk and you agree that the Holistic Ferret Forum, its members, administrators, moderators and mentors are not liable for the results of any actions taken by you based on information contained within this forum. In no way, shape or form is it suggested that any advice given by ferret owners on this forum can replace proper veterinary care and advice! IF YOUR FERRET IS SICK, TAKE HIM/HER TO THE VET IMMEDIATELY!
