Hello and thanx for allowing me to join. My name is Karen and I am mom to a dozen ferrets, an oddball assortment of cats and my dog Jazz. And speaking of Jazz, she has lived all her life with cats and ferrets so I am not sure what she thinks she is; a dog, a cat, or a very tall ferret. I stay pretty busy taking care of my furry crew but I look forward to getting to know people here. My passions are hubby John, my critters, family, and yarn. John teases me that I have enough yarn I could open my own yarn shop. Throughout my web site I have a lot of great ferret graphics done by the wonderfully talented artist Deva. I have purchased a couple new graphic discs from her and I am fixing to redo my web site. What I would give to be even half as talented as what that woman is, she does FANTASTIC ferret graphics. Well, that is me and you have my intro. If you have a spare moment, stop by and take a look at my web site. www.thecrochetedferret.com/

Thanx so much to everyone for the warm welcome. I have the crochet hooks flying right now, I had 20+ dozen DerbyEggs available a couple weeks ago, put a notice on the FML; lots of people make up Easter baskets for their ferrets including a DerbyEgg or two. Within just four days I was totally wiped out. More orders came in but I was having to tell people I couldn't get the eggs to them before Easter which everyone said that was fine, they still wanted them. Easter and Christmas is my busiest time; people order some eggs for their ferrets for birthdays throughout the year or just ordering some eggs for their fuzzies for no special reason or if their ferrets have "loved" their last egg to death. ;D ;D I have a question to those of you who do have some of my eggs or have had them in the past; have you noticed your ferrets favoring any certain color?? A couple of people who have ordered eggs requested all pinks, shades of pink, and the brighter pink the better. And they also asked me not to reveal their name; they were ordering for their big honking males and felt a bit embarrassed for their boys. ;D ;D Once I started looking for that in our group, I noticed it too; the boys seemed to like the pinks and shades of pink and the girls seemed to like the blues and greens. So who knows, maybe the ferrets can see colors but are they able to see the full spectrum of color?? The list never seems to end as far as learning more about ferrets. Anywho, thanx again guys, appreciate the warm welcome.

We had a post running on the old forum about what colours ferrets can see. Reds (why not pinks) but I can't remember if they could see blue or not. It seems that we have destroyed much of their colour range (seemingly polecats see more colour variety than the common ferret) ciao

Welcome Karen! I think your DerbyEggs look like great ferret toys! However, can I make one suggestion? When I went to your DerbyEggs website, I had to hunt around for a while to find any pictures of the eggs themselves. For example, the page where you actually order the eggs has no pictures of the product. I was asking myself, what are these DerbyEggs anyway? I finally found some pictures of them by going to your Links page, then going to the "history of DerbyEggs" link, then I found some nice pics. The one of Mz. Derby holding one in her mouth was great! I would humbly suggest that you might make sure you have pictures of the product on the webpages that sell or talk about the eggs! Heck I would throw a pic or two of a ferret playing with one or something on the very first page where it says "Home of the famous DerbyEggs". I think it would help you sell more of them! But on the other hand, it sounds like you already are selling them like hotcakes so maybe it isn't needed! Anyway welcome
