If not eating i'd take her to the vet. That is never a good sign.

Well I don't know if she's not eating. My boyfriend and I both work full time jobs, so she may be eating and we just don't see her doing it. That's why I'm going to stick with hand feeding her for now. If I notice she's getting lethargic, pawing at her face, or getting skinnier by the weekend, we'll take her to the vet.
I've seen her drink a lot of water, so as long as I know she's getting water and I hand feed her, I'm hoping she'll be fine.
If by this weekend, I have not seen her eat, I will go ahead and take her to the vet as well.

Will she take spoon feeding? That way, you get more into her, and you know her intake. That way, if she starts refusing, you can get her in

I definitely would hand feed at least one meal a day. I found it extremely useful it determining 1) they are actually not starving themselves and 2) when they start getting sicker

I agree with Jackie. In fact that's what I do. If I'm not seeing someone physically eating I hand feed. Do weights weekly and keep a log. A bit time consuming but I'm on top of what's going wrong...I took 2 ferrets in last week. Both were ill....cummulation of signs and symptoms. Sat down with the vet and bashed it about. Neither of these ferrets appeared sick other than "something's wrong and can't put a finger on it" Fun-Go is insulinoma and Yuri has adrenal, with ulcers. Both are responding well to their respective treatments.....unfortunately....because it means I have two more who are not long to be around ciao

I'm sorry Heather =[ Yeah, I know already Lincoln has Adrenal Going to try to get him to the vet this weekend or in two weeks, as we both work the same hours the vet is open. Ugh! Riley will not spoon feed, and will not eat off my finger often. Syringe is the only way to go, but I don't have any of those either. I'll just need to make her eat from my finger. I really hope she is okay. When we put everyone up tonight, I'm putting her in a separate cage to see if she poops. I hate not knowing what's wrong!

OH, Heather- I'm so very sorry Bibliophiliac- go to your local pharmacy. They can give you a syringe that you can use a puree baby food with. That's where I get mine from.

The joys of rescue....or I guess I should say heartbreak. I had to laugh, someone once said I was really lucky, all these "free" ferrets.....all I could do was shake my head. What free ferrets....my vet bills were over $10000 last year and I didn't do one surgery This year is going to be higher (already have done one surgery, Minion looks like it's going to be 2 and I haven't even made it to June yet) Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't trade any of these little terrors, I love them all but there is no shortcut no easy way. You've got to get a syringe...there are baby feeding syringes at your local drugstore, even the corner store would probably carry them. Do you have any vit droppers, children's liquid medicine droppers anything to get nutrients into your fuzz. If she's just licking a bit of liquid off your finger she's not getting near enough of anything in her. Even a healthy fuzz will go into a hypoglycemic crash when going without food for long lengths of time. ciao

Well, I'll head to the drugstore Sunday. In the meantime, we saw Riley eat kibble last night! I was fixing her some baby food and Jeff came into the kitchen saying "KELLY COME LOOK!" and she was eating! She ate a lot too! I saw her eat more today also! She's extremely hyper today and not sneezing or coughing When I looked at the stools, i saw a nasty clump of fur! Stinkin' hairballs!

Oh, I'm so glad. We've had enough serious surgeries on here this week I would keep giving her some pumpkin for another couple of days though ciao
