My little Suki is acting very strange!! I don't think she's eating, just drinks
lots of water, her energy lvl is extremely low, she sleeps or lays down a lot. Shes normally very very energetic and rambunctious. She's normally nippy and always wants to play.
I will be booking a vet appointment in the morning but not sure what to expect. Shes around 6-8 months. Normally when it's time to eat she charges for food and hides it.today she smelled the food and went back to lay down. The food has not changed... I noticed her different behavior yesterday but was unsure if she was just having an off day but her behavior is the same today...

Hmm. Definitely get her into the vet asap, when you call explain it needs to be today. Is she pooping? Is there any chance she could have eaten something or chewed a piece off of something she shouldn't have? My thoughts went to blockage but I'm not sure because I have never dealt with that first hand. Good luck to you and Suki.

My first thought is blockage as well. Has she pooped at all? Depending on where you are in Calgary Chanel, McKnight Veterinary Hospital is fantastic and has ferret surgeon's on at all times. www.mcknightvethospital.ca/default.aspx

shes also letting me hold her for long periods of time which is super odd!!! when i let her out of the cage and bring her downstairs she just runs back upstairs to her comfort area... again, this is odd. Suki is a 6-8 month old female. shes white/grey mitt/ kinda panda looking.

It sure sounds like she is not feeling well. Hopefully, it's something simple that a course of antibiotics will help. If you can, try to take a sample of her poop, with you. When my Roamy picked up a bug from Mika, I took several puppy pads, and marked them for each day. Of course, Roamy obliged the vet and left a nice sample after getting his temp taken. Also it helps to take notes, sometimes we get rather emotional and it's hard to remember just what the vet says. After the visit, you can let us know what the vet says, alot of the experienced ferrents can help explain stuff and will be familiar with meds and lab reports.

Has she pooped at all? She is certainly presenting with a blockage. They can get one from fur as well as they can't toss hairballs like a cat.

Hi, just wanted to update. The vet said she couldn't feel any blockage... And that Suki seemed healthy, she wanted to do some expensive blood work and since I was noticing Suki energy lvl to slowly rise again I decided to just take her home and see how she was feeling the next day.
She seems to be feeling better, back to her energetic nippy self.... Haha.
The vet did however try really hard to get me to change my ferrets diet. Recommended I feed them "totally ferret" ferret food instead of the raw diet. Not sure what to do?

Best bet is going to be to have an xray done. If it's a soft blockage she won't feel anything anyway. That would show up as gas on a regular xray, indicating she needs a barium. It's also possible she passed whatever it was. I gather she's pooping again? If so, I'd be giving her a bit of pumpkin(1 tsp) a day for 2-3 days to make sure whatever it was is completely passed. Then do a raw egg yolk a couple times a week. And yes- vets here will push that. If it is Mcknight Vet Clinic and it happens to be Dr. Kimura just tell her you are one of my forum members
