It is inevitable: every spring, we get ants in the house. Namely, the two bedrooms on the front end of the house (one of which is mine).
We do spray the outside of the house, but that doesn't always get rid of them fully. I know I'm going to end up having to spray inside the house in a few weeks, but am afraid to do so now that I have little fuzzies running amok. I don't want them breathing the stuff in, much less ingesting it in some form.
Would any of you happen to know of pet-friendly bug sprays that I can use without worry?

Spring means ants for us too. We usually put down drops of Terro on small pieces of cardboard, or use the prepackaged bait versions. Our ferrets aren't free-roaming, so it's a little easier to hide the stuff safely... just has to be places the cats and dogs can't easily reach. You could also put the bait inside something like a tupperware container with ant-sized holes poked in it.
All the sprays I've tried that claim to be "pet friendly" either don't seem to do much, or have to be reapplied so often that I worry about it building up anyway. We tend to get little spindly spiders in the bathroom/utility room where the ferret cage is, so I spray the "pet friendly" stuff on a rag and wipe it around the corners of the wall and ceiling. Seems to keep the spiders away for a week, but the ants power on through.

I havent had to spray the ferret room yet but I do spray inside and outside of the house, no ferrets for 48 hours in the area that's been sprayed, I just do one room at a time. I put the little bait ground stick things from walmart in the ground around the house outside and about every 3-4 months I retreat. It wasnt a problem last year.. if I have to do the ferret room it'll suck, i'll just have move their whole cage out.

The ones I use outside have a round disc on top with a stake comming out the bottom and I put those every so many feet.. I get them at walmart, I'd have to go outside when I can see to know the brand. I use those liquid traps inside though, I put them on the window ledges, inside cabinets and on top of the counters.

Unfortunately, "icky tasting" anything doesn't bother my ferrets. I actually caught one of them LICKING the bitter apple spray off of some electrical cords I sprayed down.. Also, I did have some of those little ant killing boxes you drop on the floor and let them go into, but my ferrets decided those were fun toys so I had to get rid of them. Perhaps I should just try to be a bit more aggressive with the outdoor bug sprays. I'll also try the vinegar/water and see how it goes. Thanks for the replies everyone
