I've been giving my ferrets live mice because that's how someone on a snake forum said they did with their ferrets so they would realize it was food. Morrighan has already eaten several pinkie and fuzzy mice by me putting the babies into her mouth. Other than that they would always kill the mouse (they are quick) and leave it... so I'd feed it to my cat once I was sure they weren't going to touch it. Once I took the mouse and cut it up and mixed it in with Morrighan's ground beef and cut chicken hearts and she ate most of the mouse. Last night I couldn't get the snake to eat... I had two thawed mice in with him and he refused... Its been about 5 or 6 weeks since he last ate, so I was going to try prekilled. I didn't want to pull out the gas chamber for a single little mouse so I gave him to the ferrets to kill... Well they did. And the next second Macha had eaten half the mouse. She would have eaten all of it, but Morrighan took it from her and finished it off. They must have sensed I knew they wouldn't eat it and wantef to prove me wrong. Lol

Your Macha and Morrighan are doing so well! Good Job! Aren't you amazed at how smart, those two are?

I am They ate a young adult mouse just now. I'm so glad they accepted prey fairly easily.

They eat mice pretty well now. Shoud I introduce them to other prey like rats, gerbils, rabbits, etc right away or wait? I haven't tried giving them f/t again yet... so maybe I should try that before trying larger critters.

Try anything, there are no rules. If you want to feed prey...go for it ciao

Macha decided that she prefers the meat and organ mix more than the meat mixed with canned kitten food. Now she isn't touching the kitten food mix anymore, but chowing down on the meat.

Go ahead and try other prey, mine all ate mice great and they took to everything whole prey fine, were eating rabbits and quail with no problems. Watch any of the big herbivores, guinea pigs and rabbits you may have to gut for your ferrets if you don't want a mess.
