1. Where did you first learn about natural diets for ferrets?
From my education as a zookeeper.
2. Please describe the type of diet you would like assistance in switching your ferret(s) to. Be sure to include if you are interested in feeding whole prey (live or frozen-thawed) and if you are wanting to FULLY switch to a natural diet or PARTIALLY. If you are unsure what kind of diet you want to put your ferrets on, please express that and we can help you find the best type of natural diet for your ferret.
I would like to feed whole meat they will gnaw on and self regulate atm we are on the soup stage to make sure evreyone eats all of their organs etc. I want them to be 100% raw.
3. Why are you interested in switching your ferrets to a natural diet?
SO they live a long and happy and healthy life
4. Do you understand that switching your ferret to a natural diet can be a lengthy, arduous process? Its not an overnight switch. It can be a commitment of several weeks or even months. Your HF Mentor will be more then happy to assist you in switchng your ferret(s) to a natural diet, but you need to be equally as commited. If you aren't willing to tough out a potentially lengthy switching process, or if you have major life changes approaching (baby on the way, moving, starting school, getting married/divorced, etc) then it might be a better idea to wait on switching your ferret's diet until you have more time. Are you willing to make the commitment?
I've been doing this since August now, so the commitment is there
5. How many ferrets do you currently have? What are their names? Ages? Genders? Do they have any health problems? Are they overweight? Underweight? How long have you had each ferret for?
Felix 3,5 years. Had him since he was 7 months. Castrated before I got him.
He weighs around 1200 gram on top weight, but can lose weight to under 1000 gr if he stresses with new ferrets moving in. He has some swelling in his kidneys from an infection last year.
Mink 1,5 years and 780 grams. Had her since she was 14 weeks. As a pup she got electricuted and developed an infected wound on her chest. Now she has a bare spot. Have always had a cough which I think is a side effect from accident as a puppy. Duracell-bunny and eat alot to keep her going. Slender and light built girl. From breeder. Grew up on kibble and raw. Eats anything. Supreloin Implant.
Else 7,5 months. Half sister of Mink. 900 grams and semi angora. Very fluffy. Eats everything and anything. Happy girl. Went into heat as 7 months and got a supreloin implant.
Linus 1,5 years. About 12% wild hybrid. From breeder. 1900 grams right now. Big fat teddy bear that has a temper and attitude. Loves to gnaw on bones. And my sofa...
Luke 1,5 years. Happy healthy silver. From pet store know nothing about him. About 1300 grams.
6. What diet do you currently feed your ferrets? (Please include all treats, supplements, etc)
Soupies. Duck, chicken, beef, pig, mice, lamb...taurine, coconut oil, salmon oil, bone meal, egg.
7. Have you ever tried to switch your ferrets to a natural diet in the past? If yes, what happened?
They are on raw atm.
8. What additional information about yourself or your ferrets would you like to share?
We want to learn more!
9. How often during the week do you have access to a computer?
All day everyday
10. Please post a picture of each of your ferrets (if possible).
