Mabel came to me a year ago November. I adopted her and her two friends. She was adrenal when I got her and I knew this day would come, just hoped to have more time with her. Her Suprelorin implant was in April and she improved a bit over time growing some fur and gaining some energy. She was not easy to convert to raw, being probably about 7 years old and well imprinted on kibble. She never really did play much but she loved to explore and stash her toys. She lost her sight about a month ago, after cataracts slowly formed. This was when she lost interest in doing much, and I stopped changing her room so she could find things. She never was much for cuddling, but last night and this morning insisted on climbing into my lap and curling up. She had lost so much weight despite my hand feeding her, and with this new cuddling thing I think she was asking to go. She curled in her favorite pocket hammock from Rose in my lap on the way to the vet today, and I got my last snuggles and kisses and got to tell her I would see her at the bridge before she fell asleep forever. I can't play with the others right now. DIP Mabel

Condolences on Mabel's passing. Even if you know it's coming and you know it's time, there is no way to shield your heart from the heartbreak of losing one of these little guys.
You are in my thoughts (adrenal is something I really hate & especially the wasting away, so I feel for you). May you find a way to get passed the pain of Mabel's passing and enjoy the memories of her in better times, even if the time has been way too short.

The only animal I have cremated is my dog Spooky (I knew I couldn't dig a hole big enough for her). The vet showed me the urn, which was ugly but said if I wanted to scatter her ashes I could get them back in a box. The box was a very nice wooden box. The ashes were in aplastic bag, inside a chiffon bag, which was all then packed with pot pourri in the box, it was very nicelly done. It was almost a shame to undo it all but I did so I could sprinkle her ashes where all my other pets are buried but I still have the box, which my brother used his wood burner to burn in her name and dates and a phrase I chose on one side of the lid and I glued a frame with a pic of her opposite it. You could do something like that.

I am so sorry. She was lucky to have found someone who loved and cared for here the way you did.
