Hello, my name is Christian, and although I have been ferret-free for the past 18 months (space and time constraints), I have kept ferrets since 1981, and have been feeding a raw, natural diet since 1982.
As a zoologist, the concept of a naturalistic diet for all my pets has simply made sense. I am a proponent of a diet as natural as possible...whole prey whenever possible, and biologically appropriate....ie, no beef, bison, etc for ferrets...only foods that they would or could naturally predate upon.

Hi and welcome You may want to go check out some studies that Marie is posting right now on the natural diet of various polecats and ferrets throughout the world. There is even a study on the feral ferrets of New Zealand...there may be more on other feral colonies (that's as far as I've checked out so far ) Please feel free to post, read questions and posts. Participate, another point of view is always interesting. Everyone's friendly. I hope that I will be seeing you around ciao

There is even a study on the feral ferrets of New Zealand. Thanks, I have done...as they were published, actually. They mirror what I have been suggesting as a ferret diet since the late '80s, based on my personal studies (based on field and lab findings from earlier, and a certain amount of extrapolation, based on native fauna) actually.

Hello and welcome Are you planning on getting more ferrets again at some point? I will do, although I am not certain just when, particularly as I wish to obtain only intact European stock when I do.
