1. Where did you first learn about natural diets for ferrets?
the HFF along with other research from the internet
2. Please describe the type of diet you would like assistance in switching your ferret(s) to. Be sure to include if you are interested in feeding whole prey (live or frozen-thawed) and if you are wanting to FULLY switch to a natural diet or PARTIALLY. If you are unsure what kind of diet you want to put your ferrets on, please express that and we can help you find the best type of natural diet for your ferret.
I would like to switch to a mix of frankenprey along with some commercial raw for times that we are busy or cant find enough different protein sources. eventually i would like to get them to eat whole prey to use as a "treat"
3. Why are you interested in switching your ferrets to a natural diet?
i want them to be the healthiest i can make them and i wouldn't want to do anything that could jeopardize that health that can be avoided with a little extra work on my part
4. Do you understand that switching your ferret to a natural diet can be a lengthy, arduous process? Its not an overnight switch. It can be a commitment of several weeks or even months. Your HF Mentor will be more then happy to assist you in switchng your ferret(s) to a natural diet, but you need to be equally as commited. If you aren't willing to tough out a potentially lengthy switching process, or if you have major life changes approaching (baby on the way, moving, starting school, getting married/divorced, etc) then it might be a better idea to wait on switching your ferret's diet until you have more time. Are you willing to make the commitment?
yes
5. How many ferrets do you currently have? What are their names? Ages? Genders? Do they have any health problems? Are they overweight? Underweight? How long have you had each ferret for?

Smokey is our oldest he is about 10.5 months. he is a boy. we took them to the vet yesterday he has no health problems according to the vet. he weighs 2lbs 9 ounces and we have had him for 3 weeks
Bandit is the next oldest he is about 4.5 months. also a boy. he has no health issues and weighs 2lbs 8 ounces (hes gained a lot of weight since we started feeding him soupys he was so much smaller then smokey when we brought smokey in 3 weeks ago) we have had bandit one month
and last but certainly not least we have Rose she is the baby of the group at 3.5 months. a girl no health issues she is tiny at 1lb 9ounces we brought her home 5 days ago
6. What diet do you currently feed your ferrets? (Please include all treats, supplements, etc)
smokey eats turkey and pork chunks by themselves but we also give him soupy because he refuses to eat chunked organs or bones
bandit eats soupy made from adding water to the nv commercial raw duck or lamb somedays and switches off with the homemade soupy with turkey eggshell powder liver and hearts the soupy is the consistancy of a wet ground meat with tiny slivers
rose is my problem child she refuses all raw so we scruff stuff and try and get as much raw soupy into her during the day but she still eats kibble soup at night (she is on marshalls kibble from the port store refuses to eat it hard only if it is in soup form but we decided switching her kibble now would be unnecessary because we are switching her to raw)
i add a quail egg to the soupy every few days and when i put in a new meat to the soupy i add a little bit of ferretone because its the only way to get bandit it taste it after that i dont put more on until we add a different meat and then only if he refuses it
we have tried to cut out treats except for freeze dried but none of them eat freeze dried we do occasionally give the bandit brand soft chicken treats (like yesterday at the vet or nail clipping time)
7. Have you ever tried to switch your ferrets to a natural diet in the past? If yes, what happened?
i am trying to switch them now smokey is the easiest hes already eating chunked meat about 1in by a half in. but he refuses organs and bones so we supplement him with soupy so he stays balanced
Bandit is still eating soupy with tiny slivers any bigger and he picks them out i try to hand feed chunks and he turns his nose up at it occasionally he will take one but then spit it out after one or 2 chews
rose refuses any raw including very liquidy soup she is still at the scruff and stuff phase every time she walks past but she is starting to show interest in the soup even if she still wont even lick it off my finger
8. What additional information about yourself or your ferrets would you like to share?
9. How often during the week do you have access to a computer?
daily if im not on my laptop i have my cell phone with me at all times and access to the internet though that
10. Please post a picture of each of your ferrets (if possible).
ill have to get one of each of them when my fiance gets home i have no idea where the camera is and i dont know how them from my phone onto the computer
11. Have you met the requirements for this program? Do you have your scale, a place to access meats, hearts, livers, etc?
i have a scale can get the meats easily having a hard time finding organs other then hearts and livers (can find mixed chicken gizzards but no other animal) i can get hearts and livers in beef or chicken i have chicken parts now and commercial raw duck and lamb and ground turkey
