i just got my big boy, punky last friday, and he's seven months.
he hasn't had any shots except his baby ones, or thats what the pet store told me.
should i get him vaccines? I'm not quite sure, because i've been told/read on here, that a vaccine usually last for life??
or is that after a certain age, oh im so confused.

If the only shot he had was when he was altered then it's probably no good and whatever antibodies his body had created by his mother destroyed. They are too young to be vaccinated for those first vaccines to be worth anything. The mother's antibodies are still functioning through the mother's milk (as little of it that they get ), therefore the vaccine given will have destroyed them and nullified itself. That's why there are what they call kit series or puppy series...because you don't know when the mother's antibodies will wear off and if the vaccine was given while the mother's antibodies were still in effect, you've destroyed both That's the simplified version If you're into vaccinating he will indeed have to be vaccinated. ciao

With Jack, I did his FVRCP and rabies as soon as I got him. I really don't know how old he was at the time and I had no previous medical history on him. I will continue his rabies (because it's the law here) but will not continue his FVRCP. With Brady, he came from a petstore so i knew he had his "kit series" for FVRCP. He got his rabies from my vet as soon as I got him and will have his one year booster for FVRCP in August. After that, I will not vaccinate him for anything other than rabies. I'd prefer to not vaccinate at all, but vets are still very persistent on them and I feel this is the best compromise I can make with mine. Until I find a practicing holistic vet

yes they are. i do have one that is with that, as well as she pushes raw as well. unfortunately the vets don't work full time, so if we do have an emergency we have to go to another vets and we get a giant spechiel about how raw is bad and such, i've heard it from other vets, don't need to hear it from you to

Just make sure you've done your research well, and when they can see you are not only more knowledgeable about it then they are, but are also adamant, they stop ;D We ran into that with an emergency vet as well After her initial freakout, and my spiel, she simply looked at me and said "Well, we just won't discuss diet then" ;D ;D ;D
