I am afraid if I go to the vet to check out Charlie's scabs/possible mct that he will persuade me to go back to kibble.
I know that is borderline neglect. How did you deal with vets and diets?

By letting them know it was not open to negotiations. Period.

And since they didn't react to the organic chicken leave that off for now and keep it in reserve. Please pick up some beef or turkey, duck etc and start them on that for a few days.

I have ground beef, I can try that. Everyone likes the quail. And I like saying it is not open for discussion

They do generally back off over that And let me know how the ground beef goes! Add an egg and some extra virgin olive oil if need be

The beef didn't defrost in time, so I tried ground turkey and egg yolk.

I took Charlie to the new vet today and she said it might be a MCT and gave him some medicines incase it is something else. Can I use reishi for all of them or should I wait until Gus-Gus' allergy is figured out? I found the liquid extract, can I use that? Everywhere I read they say to use a powder.

How did they do with the turkey? Any sweepings or other reactions? And you need to stay with that for a few days to test for those. For the reishi extract what is the strength listed? I use 1/4 capsule, 400-500 mg daily per ferret. So 100-125 mg daily. What "medicines" and what else did she think it may be?

I can understand the amoxi for potential infection. It's a decent broad spectrum. And I gather the animax is an ointment? But why on earth did she give you pred? That won't do a thing for either mast cells or skin infection. Sorry- I am really at a loss as to what this vet is doing.

She never said why, I'll call and ask. The vet wasn't there today but they said they would ask her when she came in. The other vet said incase it is MCT.

Gus' back paws swelled up. It happened right after I gave them turkey again. I gave them beef this morning because I didn't have turkey. So I can't pinpoint it to turkey. I messed up.
The swelling doesn't seem to bother him. Should I do something? And should I feed them turkey all day tomorrow to make sure it is the turkey.

I did read on one of the threads that ferrets might have an egg allergy. Maybe I'll stop feeding eggs.

Okay. You need to do ONE thing at a time. Take them right back to a single protein. Make it beef for now. Give that and that alone for 5 days. Add eggshell powder for the calcium. That will NOT trigger any allergic reaction.

Out of curiosity, is this vet ferret savvy? Because mast cells are generally benign on ferrets, but highly aggressive on cats and dogs.
