We all know about the issues I have been having with Kahlua and SoCo and how she wants to eat him alive. Sherry and Heather had remembered a member of the old forum using Zylkene holisticferret.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=care&action=display&thread=5735I have been thinking about trying it with Kahlua but before I do I want to ask if anyone understands the dosage? I plan to ask my vet but I dont know if he will know much about it/dosage/etc and I'm pretty sure that she explains it but Im not totally positive/dont fully understand because conversions are lost on me. She talks about mgs in a later post but im still not sure i totally understand. Can someone break it down for me a little? If Im understanding she puts 1.5 ml of water with 15mg of powder (how do i measure 15mg?) to each kg of the animal (15mg per pound, right? So for example if said pet is 1.5 would you do 22.5 mg to 1.5ml water or 3.5ml water?) I am sooo confused. I dont want to get it if I cant dose it properly. Also what happens if I give to much? I cant seem to find anything on Zylkene in ferrets/ overdosing zylkene Any info would help- thank you!

Here is what I understand she did. So she mixed a 75 mg pill with 0.5 ml of water. This gives a solution with a concentration of 150 mg/ml. She then dosed 0.1 ml of solution (which contains 15 mg of the zylkene) to each kg (1 kg = 2.2 lbs) of weight. Make sure you mix the solution very well to get a homogeneous solution with the drug distributed evenly. She states that she doubles Yoda's dosage (30 mg of zyklene, 0.2 ml of solution). I believe she dosed him extra because he was very scared, but there could be a weight difference involved. To measure the mg would be difficult. You'd need a scale. Better way to do this is to buy the 75 mg pills, and just mix the entire pill with 0.5 ml of water, use a syringe and dose accordingly. I could also do the calculations for a lager mg pill (like the 225 mg pills) in case it's cheaper that way for you, but the amount of liquid would be very, very small. Scratch that, I got myself mixed up. If you wanted to use the 225 mg pills (which she states are cheaper), you could do the calculations like this. The goal is to get the same concentration as the previous drug (150 mg/ml) Add 225 mg pill to 1.5 ml of water to give 150 mg/ml concentration. Then dose 0.1 ml for every kg of weight. If you have any more questions, I'm happy to answer them for you. I do conversions like this all day long They're really simple once you get the hang of it
