So, me and my boyfriend got two little babies a few days ago. We had been preparing for this time for a few months and got them suited in just fine. They are just over 3 months old right now and we took them to the vet to get their shots already.
We wanted to put them on a semi-raw diet right now and if things go really well, possibly a full raw diet. They've been eating kibble for the past few days we've gotten them and they seem to be ok with it right now. We boiled some chicken breast, so we could give them treats easily and to see how they react to eating new things. We tore it into smaller pieces and attempted to give them out.
At first, neither wanted to try them, so we mixed it in with their kibble and the boy took to the chicken pieces a little too amazingly. The girl, however, is very picky and particular about a lot of things. I'm beginning to think that she picks out the certain pieces of kibble that she likes. Well, she did not take to the chicken the first day and would not try to eat it. The next day, we sort of coaxed her into eating some of the chicken, and she ate two pieces before going back to eating kibble.
So my real question is kind of: How do I/should I get them to eat meat? Should I actually start with raw food or build my way up to it? Because I don't want to leave raw food out too long and I don't want it to go to waste if they don't eat it all (and by they, I'm probably just meaning my little girl). I have looked at a bunch of posts about what to feed them for the week and the soup that people feed their ferrets for the switch in the mentoring, but I'm not sure where to start yet.
I want them to get a wide variety of tastes while they're still young and I want them to be as healthy and active as possible.
