My girl Pixie had rattail the first year I had her. She never lost all the hair on her tail, but it was definitely thinning. It sounds like a bit of rattail to me, but coupled with the rest of the symptoms, maybe not.
Do kids with adrenal get blackheads on their tail? I've not heard of it, but maybe no one mentioned it.

There is that. This is the time of year for more aggressive play from the males, and for shed irregardless of adrenal disease. My boys always play more aggressively this time of year.

If photobucket was working I would post a pic I took of his tail ab a week ago. I HOPE that's it... how long should I wait... I mean if it doesn't get better or it goes totally naked by june should I assume its not that? Someone here mentioned black heads were an adrenal sign.

One difference between adrenal and rattail is where the hair loss starts. Adrenal kids usually lose hair at the base on the tail (around the butt, hips, etc) first. Rattail usually happens around the middle to the tip (Pixie had hair loss of the bottom around the middle).

Sonny had a deslorelin implant at 5 months (january of this year) and even he is being more aggressive and rambunctious lately. he is also growing in his new coat so i expect that he will start looking scraggly soon. here is a picture of one of my ferrets. In this picture, he was blowing his coat. one can easily mistake this for adrenal disease . if you look towards the back legs there weren't that many dark guard hairs over his legs on the sides it was mostly undercoat and it looked really bad. the second picture shows "rat tail" -look towards the tip of his tail. however, he had no adrenal disease at that time, he was not aggressive or anything and i had the vet run a tennessee panel to be sure. this would happen to him every year at around the same time (nov -december through may? ) i don't remember now it was long ago. but his hair always grew back. and i remember that he did have the black heads on the tip of his tail. the vet told us to use Dawn dishwashing liquid and clean his tail once a day with that.

from the way you describe megaweasel's behavior + the hair loss symptoms, i would say that he most probably does have adrenal disease. the hairloss patterns with adrenal disease are not always the same. one of my ferrets lost hair at the tip of his tail. that one showed a positive tennessee panel. another one of our ferrets had a bald spot between his shoulder blades but no where else.

We went to the reg vet yesterday and he told me let's wait until end of May and ill bring him back in and well decide bc if it is adrenal its very very early. He said other than fur loss he looks great. So, I'm just going to have to wait a little longer to decide.
