I believe the box has actual instructions ( I don't have the box anymore so I'm not sure). I *think* it was 4 drops in their water bowl/bottle, plus you can rub a couple of drops into their ears and the pads of their paws. There's another thread on rescue remedy that I'l try and find. EDIT: Here's the thread. Sherry started the discussion about using RR preventatively. holisticferret60.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=health&action=display&thread=1150

it just says water, so i wasn't sure if you could actually put it on yourself or not.

I have the box.(Bach's RR right?) It reads: place 4 drops of RR on a treat or add 4 drops to drinking water.

the bottle of RR for humans has those instructions to add four drops and "sip slowly." i would not give the human rescue remedy to ferrets. it has way too much alcohol in it! bach's makes one that is alcohol free for animals.

it is bach's RR. d*mn it. i already gave some to them. is it okay to give to them, just not so much then? since the alcohol content?

its ok. don't worry. i'm sure you did not do any harm since only four drops in water. but ferrets really should not have anything with alcohol in it. i would just get the one that is made for animals and use that from now on. i use the human one for myself (i also have the little spray bottle that i use when i'm in traffic or at work and i want to kill someone) it really works too! i put four drops in some water at night and i drink it before bed.

it was on them, not in the water. i thought it was all the same, i didn't know there was alcohol in it.

don't worry about it. you did not hurt them. actually, i did the same thing before i realized that there was one for animals that was alcohol free. i had given it to my dog and then i realized "oh crap this smells like alcohol! then i read the bottle and it says something like 28 % alcohol--oops) i also gave one of my ferrets liquid saw palmetto extract for his prostate issues. but it had alcohol in it (i did not realize it before giving him a dropper full). it did not kill him. then again it was like a very very small amount of alcohol. this bach's remedy for humans has quite a bit of alcohol in it. if you put it on their skin i would think that it is like putting diluted rubbing alcohol on their skin which vets do all the time after injections, etc. i mean, i guess some would be absorbed but not much.

so it doesn't hurt them. oh thank god. i was freaking out that my ferrets would be drunk. i was mainly using it for punkers, and he's a big boy, so i don't think it really hurt him. should i or shouldn't i keep using it.

Personally I would not use it bc of the high alcohol content.

For the amount that you use and the amount that is used to create the remedy, I would go ahead but that's just me. Next time keep an eye open for the animal one but in a pinch, I will use it rather than not ciao

The only one I can get is for people, which unfortunately has the alchohol as a preservative. I use it on my ferrets, cats, and myself- with no ill effects. I put a few drops(usually 4 in each ferret dish), as well as rubbing a drop each on their ears/nose.
