My ferrets often leave this part of the baby quail behind. It looks kind of like a heart but I can't believe it really is, because they love hearts. Does anyone know what this is? Thanks. It's about the size of a dime. These are day old quails.

Yup, looks like a spleen to me. What does it look like if you cut it in the middle?? Those looks like the splenic artery and vein.

I'd have said that's it's crop, as that looks like food stored in it.
