I'm sorry My Luna is reaching 13 and has always had health issues from the time I got her from the shelter, she came to me with Parvo. It can be difficult watching them deteriorate but it sounds like you are keeping her happy and that is the best gift we can give them.

Do you have her on any joint supplements? They can make a difference older dogs. My ann was starting to get pretty stiff and the glucosamine and chondroitin really helped.

Awww, Rory, I know how hard it is watching our loved ones grow old. It's wonderful, to know that she has known so much love. Have you ever heard of the Thundershirt for dogs? They run about $40 (i think that's about 41.47 canadian money), and everyone swears by them. I'd love to see some pictures when you have your camera.

She used to be on a glucosamine supplement from the vet, so was Mikey because he had knee surgery. We didn't really notice any change because they were already on a raw diet. I didn't want to overdo it with supplements.

Thanks We just went for a walk and she was running around skipping over the mud. My princess doesn't like getting her feet dirty haha I wish I had my camera. She was a rescue and was returned to the shelter 2-3 times before we gave her a forever home, she was only 6-8 months old. Other than emotional scarring she's never been ill a day in her life. The only issue that came up was a cracked dew claw as a pup. What breed is Luna? Luna is a Pitbull (staffy) but she doesn't know that. She is afraid of our 8 lb schnoodle, the cats and I am pretty sure the ferrets scare her too. I had to spoon and bottle feed her for nearly the whole first year of her life, so she thinks she is a tiny baby.

She is lovely. It is hard to says goodbye to our companions. I'm trying a few things first but I may be making this decision for our dalmatian soon. She is 11 yrs old with poor eye sight & hearing as well as hip issues. Amazingly she has never snapped at us.

Aww!! I love "scary" dogs that are huge babies. She sounds precious. Pitbulls are easily one of my favourites.

I'm so sorry to hear about your pup Rory. It really is difficult when they reach this point in their lives.

Thanks On the bright side, she gobbled her dinner down like a champ before I left. She can still get through a 1 lb turkey neck as though it was butter.

Well... if she's comfortable, eating and enjoying life, that's not so bad. Just need to be careful on porches etc.

Our border collie Lucy was 15 when she decided she'd had enough. Blind, deaf and her hips were bothering her mightily so she couldn't walk very much, she didn't even recognize me the last time I came to visit. Poor girl's in a better place now. She came to us as a rescue from the family we got all of our cats from, the family told the girl who owner her, a college student she had to go. Which was just as well since they abused the crap out of her, poor dog was terrified of everything and beat up when we got her.
