i've had that happen especially when the shelf was on the lowest setting - oberon just had to stand up fully and he'd knock it off the hooks (he's a big guy) without meaning to.
i've also seen some of the others purposely push the front end up to the point that the whole shelf became dislodged - lil buggers!!

Fun-Go does this too. He pushes it with his shoulder....it's really annoying because he basically bounces it until it fall into the litter box which then means.....they can poop on the shelf because it's in the litter box. It doesn't happen often...but enough . I honestly think the cage designers never, ever were owned by ferrets ciao

I used to hook hammies from the front of the shelf to the other side of the cage and not use ramps. It basically became a trampoline for fun ferret frolics After it fell out a few times from them bouncing from the shelf to hammock to floor, I quit doing that, and it hasn't happened since.

Tikki using her magic powers, haha! How do those little guys do it? It's amazing, each time I think of what they can do with their little bodies and all that determination. Honestly, I think nothing short of welding the shelves onto the sides of the cage would ultimately fix the problem and get them to stop shoving them around, haha.
