I currently feed mostly commercial ground food from hare today with some muscle meat's and chicken wings from the store and have been wanting to feed Javik more whole prey for a while now. And now that there's a good chance I will be getting a new kit in a few weeks (had a phone "interview" with Nancy park! She wants to keep the last two girls for a few weeks so she can decide which one she likes more to keep for herself lol) I decided now's as good a time as ever to stock up on whole prey.
So my question is, what ages should I get of prey? Javik gets plenty of bone from his commercial ground so would younger prey be okay, or should he still get adults? I'm probably going to get some mice and chicks only... not sure I could handle feeding deaf guinea pigs and whole rabbits yet lol

I prefer adult...but that being said as his calcium needs are basically covered you could get a variety to keep him amused. My guys get a variety of ages because I breed my own mice and it's just luck of the draw ciao

Adults look to be a better value too. Might be getting more per bag for babies, but per oz it looks like adults are much more affordable.
What kind of nutrients do younger prey provide in comparison?

The older the prey (not old and stringy lol)the longer it has to firm up muscle, strengthen bone. The nutritional value would be best at whatever age that species would be considered prime. ciao

Given that the whole prey will be replacing some bone in meals I'd be aiming more for adult.
