I've been feeding my three ferrets muscle meat and organs for about 2 months now, but I'd like more information on bones. Just today I bought chicken breast with the bones still in it. I took off most of the meat to feed them, but what should I do about the bones (specifically the ribs). Can I just feed that whole, or should I cut them up? Ribs are currently in the fridge, awaiting the decision.

Cut them into the same size they are used to. Another good beginner bone is chicken neck as well as wing tips.

So they're completely safe to eat, easy to pass through their system, that sort of thing?

They are not only made to eat raw bone- they NEED it in their diet. Based on twice a day feeding, over the course of a week they will have 14 meals. Of those meals 7 MUST be bone, preferably 8-9. If bone is left out of their diet severe nutrient deficiencies that can be fatal develop.

Thanks!!
I knew they need bone as a major part of their meal...I just don't want to make them choke or give them a blockage. I don't want to do more harm then good by giving them bone. But you replying made me feel a whole lot better about it. Tonight I'll add some bite sized chunks of bone to their meal, and keep adding it.

Sounds good And no, they should have no problems like that. Once in a while a new bone eater will have trouble dislodging one from their teeth, but with practice they learn how to do that.
