I've been dreading this day for a long time. When we lost Huck in November of '11 I'll admit I was lost. For a buddy I only had for two months I struggled with that loss for a lot longer than I care to admit. That night was difficult to say the least, but slowly we recovered. Then we lost Bryony our home was quiet, some of it's liveliness gone. But now I've lost Blake and that pain is back, even more so than before. I love all my kids, but Blake... he was my best friend. My lazy, dopey old man who perfectly complemented his bonded mate Huck's grumpiness and overall feisty disposition. This hurt I feel is the price one pays for wanting the older guys, for being willing to open yourself up to taking on the responsibility of those with ailments... but I'm okay with that because the experiences of having these awesome animals in my life has been amazing and I like to think I made their lives better. So now it's just Blaise, Hotaru, and I. Our home, even more silent than before. I know the hurt will fade and in the end we'll be okay. I just hope the Blake is happy to be reunited with his old pal.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I will light a travelling candle for your wee one. Your beautiful old man is now enjoying the sun and the sweet smells of green grass and has a bed of leaves and an old friend to keep him warm. Our old ones never really go far....they're always with us. They don't often stay long. They only stay long enough to earn their heartkey. It sounds selfish, but it's not...they love so deeply but they also know the difficulty of earning that heartkey.....they're moving aside to allow space for another to earn their heartkey. Your wee boy missed his friend and he needed to complete his journey. He wouldn't want you to grieve his passing but to celebrate his life as he had done. Gentle journey, little one....fly high little shooting star ciao

Oh Yossarian I am so very, very sorry my friend. These losses, especially when it involves a heart ferret, are so soul wrenching. DIP Blake, and have fun with your buddy at the bridge. And don't forget to come back and visit papa in his dreams to let him know you are okay

Im so sorry for your loss It seems that they leave us too quickly. I lost my heart ferret last august. I think about her daily.. I have another ferret Bree who looks similar to her and sometimes I'll forget and I'll see her out of the corner of my eye and think I'm seeing Anks again. He was a handsome boy, lucky to have an owner who loved him as much as you clearly did. DIP Blake..

My deepest sympathies on the loss of your Blake. His beautiful picture made me cry. It's only been three weeks since I lost my Ponce, and even though we both have lost our heart ferret, thank goodness for the love and memories.
