and was wondering if anyone knew if I needed specific vaccinations for my kit, i know some people mention canine distemper jab and rabies in other countries? and also what age should they be given to him? (I've not yet picked him up as the kits aren't ready until end of june) but I would like to know in advance so I can get things sorted! Thankyou!  |

I believe some vaccinate against canine distemper there, but rabies doesn't exist there so you don't need to worry about that one.

You will be lucky if your vet even carries the rabies vaccine. The only ones that have to worry are the ones being exported. The only other vaccine is distemper. There were a couple of UK locations posted last year with distemper outbreaks. We often suggest one distemper shot given at about 6 months if you're going to give it at all. I don't bother but that was done after a lot of research. There are a number of threads that are on this forum discussing the pros and cons of vaccination and when

I know the UK doesn't have rabies i was just using it as an example for other countries and oh right, I couldn't find the pro's and cons for vaccines! thankyou i'll look again
