That's fine! Not to worry Heart and liver I actually had to puree and hand feed with mine at first. With all of them you really need to start increasing size and amounts to get them off the soup ASAP. Once that's down they need to have bone introduced as well as new proteins. They should have been on bone by now. Oh ..... I didn't know... You just had me start this past week on bone... I will get more necks and try just adding it to there sliver/chunks......

Sherry,
I received my package of both Grizzly Salmon Oil & a bottle of Sea Pet Omega 3 Fish Oil. I know I only give to them every third day and I only give 1/4 tsp, but you mentioned in an earlier post to mix with EVOO... How much EVOO do I mix with the fish or salmon oil? Like how much to how much

I mix mine 1/2 and 1/2 You might want to get them accepting the salmon and fish oils by themselves first though. Some take a while to develop a taste for these. And I know I just got you going with the bone What I meant is when it's not a daily posting, or every couple of days the switch takes a lot longer

Sherry, I am a little concerned ....... All three of my babies seem to have lost weight......
Gus was 2.62 lbs. and is now 2.56 lbs.
Pixie was 1.88 lbs. and is now 1.69 lbs.
Waffle was 1.75 lbs. and is now 1.67 lbs.
This is the least they have ever weighed ...... Am I doing something wrong? Waffle DOES NOT like the bigger chunks or the spaghetti strips ...... She will eat around them or spit them out and eat whatever else there is on the plate. ..... And she does not even want to think about eating it without her soup on it...... Gus isn't fond of the bigger chunks but will eat some of them .....Pixie will eat them all ..... I am still feeding at least 1 ounce per ferret a night..... Two times a week they get egg yolks, two times a week they get Kefir and 2 times a week they get oil all mixed in there food..... I keep food accessible to them at all times...... Could it be that I added bone? Any help you could give me I would greatly appreciate......

Ferrets tend to be very lazy eaters. If you were content to give them nothing but commercial raw they'd be happy campers. I gather the kibble is entirely out of their diet now, or are they still getting some? And what are they eating during the day time? The bone is definitely going to cause a few issues because it's new, and they frankly don't want to be bothered The weight loss they've had since you started this switch isn't unusual at all, so I'd not be too concerned just yet.

Oh...... And one more question added to the above..... If I am giving them eggshell and now chipped neck bones do I need to be giving Taurine? If so how much.... Mine comes in capsules.... I am giving them boneless breast meat as there sliver/chunks...... No skin .... I cannot get the skin in small enough pieces for them to eat and they do NOT seem to like it... Any hints? Should I be feeding other parts of the chicken or is the breast good enough? Thanks for all your help through this......

Okay, taurine supplements if not getting heart are necessary. 500mg per ferret per day. with Waffle, keep her at the sliver stage for now then. Just keep increasing the slivers to soup ratio every second meal until it is almost all slivers. Then start increasing size. For Pixie and Gus, keep them at it. Chop the neck up and smash those pieces and keep slipping them in. They will start accepting them soon And why not mix it up? Get some dark meat(thighs or legs). Those also have more flavour so may be better accepted. Also you need to start making a soup of heart and liver for them. You will definitely have to hand feed this for a while to get them accepting it.

When I make a soup of Hearts & Livers, How many turkey hearts to how many livers. Can I make a batch up like soup and freeze it in ice cube trays? Or how chunky do you want it? As for Waffle, Will do. She seems to be doing a little better at eating chunkier chunks....

With turkey I'd do 2-3 hearts per liver since they are so large. You can try grinding and hand feeding, but since it's going to be a MUCH stronger flavor you will possibly wind up pureeing.

Sorry, yes I did! In that case one turkey heart to one chicken liver you can also feed these separately. What you ultimately want to aim at are one full heart meal a week at least(many do 1.5), and one meal of 2oz liver and 2oz other organ. For me I found it easier to just mix them at first. Expect poops to be black and tarry
