I wish! He didn't even help clean the litter boxes until last year. Don't worry though, I'm not giving up! I just want to get a good sleep tonight without having to worry about whether or not the ferrets are eating. I promise to take the kibble away tomorrow night, no ifs, ands or fuzzbutts! Sorry...that line was kinda lame. At least I'm in good spirits...I've definitely had worse colds than this.

Ok, I'm back on my game today. I have some soup thawing and took away their kibble. I hope they enjoyed their kibble last night, they're going to miss it tonight! I'll wake up a little earlier tomorrow to check in on them.

The weasels were more cooperative today. Jayden ate almost an entire ice-cube of soup from my finger, Charlie finished off the rest. And Johnny had about 10-15cc's from a syringe. I was able to get a few squirts into Kyle's mouth by doing what you suggested earlier. I offered a piece of kibble and when he went to lick it I used the syringe to get some soup in. He caught on quick though and wouldn't go for the kibble anymore. He's not trying to spit it out at all though so that's a step in the right direction!

Maybe try just zero kibble for ole Kyle, as you did with the others, and kind of (for lack of a better word) starve him in to eating the soup. He's trying to train you in to just giving him kibble. YOu gotta show him you wear the pants. Because let's face it. Weasels don't wear pants.
Glad the others are catching on! Keep it up, and keep the kibble COMPLETELY removed!

Haha! He has learned over the years that I'm a pushover and that by being cute he can get whatever he wants.
I won't give them kibble at all tonight. Kyle was just begging for treats more than usual today so I gave him a few pieces of kibble to tide him over. What do you think will happen if Kyle just refuses to switch? Will it be possible to have the other 3 on raw and him still on kibble? I know I'm not the first to have a stubborn ferret, but I think Kyle could be just about as bad as it gets.

Ok! So I'm getting somewhere tonight! I sliced some chicken back into little pieces, mostly fat, and managed to get everyone but Kyle to eat it. Kyle did sniff and lick a piece though! Johnny and Charlie had more soup (both were scruffed) and they finished off another cube. Johnny had most of it, so I'm fairly happy I haven't had them eat this much yet in one day!

Well, no one touched the soup last night. I took a picture of the soup when I put it out and then again this morning and other than being dried up a bit there wasn't so much as a dent. I'm going to be honest and say that I really didn't like doing that. I don't think I'll take away all their food again overnight like that at least until I've seen them eat the raw on their own. Kyle was fine, thank the gods, even though he had barely anything to eat in 24 hours. There were only 3-4 poops last night and 2 of them were green liquid.
I offered fresh soup to each of them and they wouldn't touch it. So I just gave them their kibble. I know that was probably not the best to do for the babies and Johnny but they were so hungry and I just couldn't hold out any longer.

Going to step in here. You do realize they've learned if they hold out you'll back down? If need be next time start them off eating the soup. They'll carry on with it.

Yes, I do know that. This was the first time I've withheld food from them for this long and I got worried. Especially for Kyle. What do you mean by start them off eating the soup?

Either finger or spoon feeding. Start giving them a few tastes and keep lowering either finger or spoon to the dish until they are eating out of that.

I'm doing that every day. Yesterday, after withholding kibble for 24 hours they simply refused to eat the soup from my finger anymore. I personally thought that was pushing it and so I gave them their kibble back.
Last night, however, I mixed some soup in with a little bit of kibble making sure each piece of kibble had some on it and my guys did eat most of it. I don't know if everyone did, but I think I'm going to continue doing this for a while until they get the hang of it.

Sherry, is this ok? Sorry I've been MIA. Tornado went over the house last night after my BF got pinned/sworn in with the police department, and we now have a limb in our roof that caused our kitchen to flood, and have had no electricity since yesterday evening (it is now after 2pm where I live). I know I know BOO HOO more drama. Things have just gone to sh** this week so bear with me.
