so i'am trying to switch my ferrets diet, today is my first attempt with doing a 1-4 ratio switch. iam switching them from horrible marshalls to archetypal-1. i got the new food today to find out that its basically like a powder, i figured i will buy the epigen 90 kibble to have. since its so hard to switch i figure NOW i should just to a switch to raw food and i need help! the smell of the new food/ salmon oil turned them off completely, i saw a few bites but i think it was part of the bowl with their old food. so how do i sign up for a mentor, whats the process? i need all the help i can get!

In the interim why not read through some mentoring threads? You can't post to these since they belong to the person in the title, but they have lots of info on how to get started You can also make a raw soup to get them started, and create a post in the newbie diet question section and everyone can pop in with ideas

Ok....egg-shell powder. Add egg to your recipe, the whole egg...take the shell, rinse it, let it dry then grind it to a powder. I use a mortar pestle or like Sherry who uses a coffee grinder, someone mentioned that you can use a blender (I don't know about that one) but it has to be a powder to be absorbed. Once you've got all your ingredients you toss them into a food processor and mix. Personally, I never cook but then I'm a long time raw feeder but I've switched a lot of ferrets. I wouldn't bother cooking, you're going to do the hassle of switching anyway so why bother with the cooked. The fewer stressors on you and your little one the better ciao

I bought chicken hearts/gizzards/livers at Walmart (eesh, but I saw nothing about saline/added flavor) for under 5 bucks all together- and it was a LOT of meats.

Yes. I can buy both at my local grocery. Sometimes however you will need to speak to the meat manager and order a case of hearts in.
