They can be very stubborn. Have you tried giving 3-4 meals in a row of just the bone in meat? And instead of coating, maybe try wetting the meat with some water, sprinkle the eggshell powder over it and mix it in. Use less since they ARE getting some bone.

I have tried giving them 3-4 meals in a row bone yep. I have been wetting the meat and sprinkling eggshell but maybe I need to use less sprinkles "Coating" was probably the wrong word. I'll try with less sprinkles. I picked up some rabbit so once it has defrosted I will give them this for bone (they may be bored of duck).

They still are not impressed with the sprinkling of eggshell onto their muscle meat. I have been preserving with the bone meat giving them duck necks and rabbits chopped into small pieces. They are eating it, but more taking the meat off the bones but it is a start. Gizmo I know is eating bone, the others are hit and miss, sometimes they will, sometimes they won't. I give it to them 3-4 meals in a row but they don't eat as much as I said previously.

They are being STUBBORN! Keep chopping up the bone in almost to mince so they are getting enough!

Generally they are eating the meat and leaving bits of bone. It is a big clean up operation as I search their cage for pieces of dis guarded bone! Rabbit seems to be a favourite over the duck so I am giving rabbit for bone now although I will get some more duck necks as I don't want them getting bored of rabbit, not that they should as they are getting a variety of muscle meats. I had some boneless salmon given to me yesterday for them which, despite not normally liking fish, they loved! Expensive tastes I am still having to make their liver and kidneys into a soup for them to eat it, disguised with lots of fish oil. Do you have a suggestion re: the bone as I give it to them 3-4 meals in a row so that they HAVE to eat it, but they just strip the meat off Pixie is also less fussy with meats now, she used to eat anything but turkey (which is her fav) because SHE had no choice, but now she is eating everything with a new enthusiasm, and also is a heart convert, she has joined the other 4 in LOVING heart. She actually is a good little meat eater now

Also, Smudge and Zebedee have decided they don't like puréed butternut squash with fish oil any more. I have upped the amount of fish oil in it but they aren't keen. We don't have pumpkin in season here and cannot get canned pumpkin. Is there anything else I can try to prevent furballs. They used to have malt paste or cat fur ball paste but since their kibble days won't touch it which is strange as they used to LOVE it.
I did mix it in with some meat for a soup which they seemed to tolerate.

Try using very bone heavy meat like necks, and cleaver them really well. Those are very hard to strip off. Normally we use chicken wings or cornish hen as these are easier to eat, but you don't have that option. You can also use fresh water fish, bone in for a couple meals a week if they'll eat it. Had to do this for a year, and hand fed to boot Start slowly cutting down on the fish oil. You can also use goats milk to flavour it if you can get some. Minimal lactose in that. Use maybe 1/2 per ferret. Just keep the sqash for potential blockages for now. I've been doing some reading and have discovered others use egg yolk a couple times a week to break up hair balls! Something in the yolk itself works on the fats that make hairballs form and helps to separate them and pass them.

Okay, would you also update me on everyone's weights and what each is now eating? Sort of a mini menu.

They are all eating muscle meat e.g. heart, pork, beef, turkey, rabbit
They all have organ in soup so that is liver and kidney and also when I chop up rabbits they are getting the lungs etc in that.
Bone wise they are still pretty much eating the meat off the bone and leaving the bone, I am going to try grind the bone down a bit to see if that helps. The pieces of bone are pretty small as I cut down to bite sized pieces. Bone wise they have been having rabbit. I have now got turkey carcasses which they tried today but with the hot weather we have been having they didnt eat much. I also have got hold of duck backs, duck carcasses and on 31st july am having duck gizzards and duck wings delivered.

It *might* be an idea to try some Cornish Hen for the bones. My guy who couldn't tolerate chicken did quite well with that. Not sure if you can do it, but whole prey(mice, rats) is another idea. Not sure how much it costs where you are though.
