hi! I am very new here and still a little lost so if I post it in a wrong spot I appologize.. I have a 3 year old male (Zuzi) and I am slowly working our way towards raw diet. He used to eat EVO and ZUPREEM but not no more. Obviously he thinks I wanna poison him wth the new stuff but for almost a week now he is having Nature's Variety Raw Chicken or Beef meddalions for breakfast and dinner and Natures Variety freeze dried raw chicken for snacks in-between the meals. I will get more variety of commercial raw and FDR (Stella and Cheewy) coming week. my question is.. is it balanced? I hope I dont do NO HARM to him. i know its baby steps towards raw but as soon as he stops cursing me out after each meal I will be adding more "home made raw" Please tell me if I am moving in a right direction Thank you

Yes, both the Nature's Variety and the Stella and Chewy's are balanced. I gather from much of the discussion that ferrets require a bit more bone than cats or dogs which makes sense to my mind as they would eat smaller, bonier prey. I started on the commercial as well, it's easier to thaw a medallion and make soup. For starters on bone-in, try a little rock/cornish game hen. They are tiny, Pan had no problem nibbling the wings; Zuzi will need to build up jaw strength! Now that all that is out of the way... Oh my, he is adorable!!!!

Hi You've got an adorable boy! And yes, as kith7 said, what you are feeding is balanced. As soon as he's accepting it well, start mixing in slivers of meat. Just two or three to start and as he eats those, add more, etc. Once at the half and half point increase the size of the slivers slightly, etc.

Thank you He eats the FDR without problems on his own... Can not say same thing about the medallions Each time I put the plate next to him he is trying to "run for his life" ;D so we have some work to do lol I used to make mix it with water so it was soupy texture but I noticed he would only drink liquid and leave all chunks and bones untouched. NO NO ZUZI! So now I add just a little bit of water and he eats the bones and meat together. After the meal he digs the carpet that's his way of relieving anger after "not tasty meal" I guess lol
