My 7 month old girl has suddenly decided that biting/chewing on EVERYTHING is a good idea. I found a piece missing from one of their sleep sacks and a bunch of teeth marks on the edge of their sleep cube when I was cleaning their cage last week.
Yesterday, I noticed that she has been latching on and making holes in one of their clear tubes. When I put her back in her cage, I could hear her chewing on the corner of the sleep cube so I stuck a chicken tip in her mouth. She then continued to chew and ate the whole thing.
She was again chewing on the tube today but I couldn't get her to chew on the wing this time.
She does have access to bone, she just seems to decide it's too much work most of the time. I'm worried she'll swallow something. Any suggestions?

At her age, it's possible she's still teething, but it's more likely boredom ;D Can you get some treat toys for her to keep her occupied while she has to be in the cage? holisticferret60.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=enrichment&action=display&thread=73Also, I have no idea if she can be out of cage longer than she is or not, but it would certainly help. Take her for walks, interact with her, towel rides, etc. If you can tire her out, she won't be as bored.

Sometimes it's a texture thing, enjoying the feeling of having her teeth go through something, but I'm thinking she needs more stimulation. More out of cage time if possible, or maybe a more interactive play as Sherry suggested. ciao

Hehe. That little girl tires me out! They get between 2-6 hours out of the cage a day and at least half of that time is spent playing with the humans (or just trying to climb our legs). In fact, yesterday, I played with her until she started ignoring me, climbing the desk chair and chewing on the head rest. When I picked her up and laid her across my arm she started to half doze. We sat for about five minutes during which she seemed sleepy, yawning several times. I put her back in her cage and 30 seconds later I could hear her chewing. Tried again and eventually resorted to spoon feeding some chunks. Eventually got her to stop chewing. Guess I'll just have to keep trying.
