So my lass slipped off to the rainbow bridge in the middle of the night. Not sure how what to do now. I usually bury my furchildren in the yard but I have large beasts that will dig her up. Sad really. I'm worried about Blaise since they were pretty attached but I've got some RR on hand.

Condolences on Bryony's passing
Re the burial, I have found if the other critters knew them then they don't dig them up, so if there was interaction you should be ok but if not I'm not sure what you can do. With my guys my dog never disturbed them or tried to dig them up because they were part of the pack as far as she was concerned, my friend however found her dog did dig up her so's birds because the dog and birds never really interacted and so it didn't consider the birds as one of the pack. Hope this helps and hope you find a way to let Bryony have her final rest without having the trauma of her being disinterred.

So very sorry for your loss . As for the burial, I live in a rural area and buried my dog this past December in our yard. We dug as deep as we could and placed her in a box then covered the box with heavy rocks. We also placed a large rock on top of her grave as a marker, it also works to keep other critters from digging. I hope this helps.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your wee one. A travelling candle is lit, to guide her wee paws on to her next great adventure. Gentle journey little one The area that I live in is also the habitat of many wild animals, both large and small that might dig up my wee ones. My property, is a ravine lot and the ferret resting area is actually the bottom of an ancient stream bed so not the easiest digging. I use hard plastic (they call them shoe boxes, they don't have to be very big ), which I seal with duct tape (no, it's not pretty but it doesn't need be). I then bury them as deep as possible (it's usually about 2 ft, sometimes not even) I find that sealing the boxes seems to prevent any scavenger from finding and digging up my wee ones. I usually plant a shrub or bush on top in the hole as it seems to help deter diggers as well and is a living memorial to each of my wee ones. ciao
