I had a question for all the fuzz butt experts. My male of unknown age (rescue) was on an unknown kibble when I first got him. It came it a trash bag when I got him. I switched him to 8 in 1 ultimate crunchy and blue wilderness kitten chicken. Now I've read how good it is to feed raw and in wanting to make the switch. I've tried to give him an egg yolk but he looked at me like I was crazy. I'm going to sign up for a mentor when I hit 15 posts. I was just wondering if I can get any quick tips to get the ball rolling.

if you read the mentoring agreement, i think there's a recipe for the soupie on there (sorry on my phone, can't post link) but this soup is where most ferrets start, as its the easiest. just search soup in the forum, and you should find it. by doing this and getting the ingredients, you'll also be prepared for when you do get a mentor

oh and reading some mentoring threads that belong to others (you cannot post in another's thread though) should give you a little head start and some insight of what is to come

I just tried to give him an egg yolk and he took it off my finger! I've tried that before and he would almost gag and run.

Make up the raw meat recipe that was suggested, it's balanced and start him exactly the same way as you've done with the raw egg. Patience is all you need. Initially they will balk at it as they imprint on their diet by the time they're about 9 months old. Some are more willing than others but they will usually change their tune once they realize how much better they feel ciao
