tessie seems a bit insecure. I dont know if its because shes little or new she seems to experience high anxiety when eating in a group setting she takes food from the others and sits on it to eat and SCREAMS if someone comes close, ive seperated her once from the other while eating but not alot and i was wondering what could help calm her insecurities. she doesnt seem to want to be held and will scream if i make her stay in my arms i think she is afraid but i dont know how to help her see shes fine.

Aw, poor baby. I would try just holding her gently, rubbing her underneath her neck. Use treats and reward her when she stays still and calm. Move slowly. It will probably just take a lot of handling until she is adjusted. When I first got Trixie, she was very shy and would also back up when I'd go to pick her up. Now she is much better

how old is she? when my Lemmy was a baby he used to screech like a little girl if anyone got near him while he was eating. EEK EEK EEK! he sounded like a little monkey at the zoo. he did outgrow it though. my mom said that he was probably the runt of the litter and had to fight for the nipple so he had a complex about it. he acted as if you were another ferret and were trying to shove him to the side and take the nipple away from him.

Oz also did that as a baby. It scared my husband! Oz fur grew out of it. I would say yours willl too. Just give her love and handle her to show her that you are good.

Hey- at least she just sits on hers! Lucrezia used to POOP on the food to prevent the others from having it ;D She'll outgrow it, not to worry

Sonny would sit on his food too. he is very crafty too. it is amazing to watch them. he hates it when i clean up his food stashes. he puts food under the couch or in the corner of the room that is right next to the couch (which is hard to get to) and i usually have to go to all the usual places and round up the chunks of meat. but he became wise to me. now he will put the piece of meat down, then he will go find a toy (usually a stuffed animal) and then he VERY GENTLY AND LOVINGLY places the toy on top of the food so that the "others" (there are no others ferrets, just the dog) won't find it. i have caught him a few times doing this and each time he does it SO GENTLY like he really CARES SO MUCH about his food. he is a very strange ferret.

That sounds like Zeus ;D He'll take his little piece of meat(I give them tiny raw treats when they are out and about), take it to where he's stashed all his skineeze, and VERY gently place the tidbit under the skineeze, then finsh with pulling the skineeze over the top of the meat And then Athena will most often go to that tidbit, grab it, and run off with it ;D Whereas Suki will take her tidbit, run around like a maniac, checking out every concievable spot possible at least twice, then after a couple minutes decide she can't find JUST the right spot, so she'll sit and eat it ;D
