Hi Everyone, I'm new here. My boys, Boss & Rosco have ate kibble all their lives (3 years). I knew a raw diet was healthier but I had NO idea kibble would cause problems. We had to rush Rosco to the vet the other night because wasn't eating & he was puking. We found out that his pancreas was flared up. That night I read in the forum about insulenoma (not sure of spelling) and it made me really sad. I didn't know that the food & treats (ferretvite) would cause tumers in the pancreas. Anyhow, I'm going to sign up for the mentor program as soon as I can. I don't have the right kind of scale yet and money is a little tight until next payday. Today I ran to Smiths and they didn't have chicken hears or livers that I could find so all I have is chicken breast. I do have eggs, so I just need to figure out how to crush them. Can I make a soup w/ just chicken breast & eggs for now to try & get them to start eating soup? Last time I tried making them a soup (probably 4-6 months ago) they wouldn't have anything to do with it, but I didn't persist and just continued on with Kibble. If I had known then what I know now I wouldn't have given up. We have Rosco home now. He's on meds and seems much better. He's still pretty sleepy and seems skinny. (they had to tube feed him for 2 days because he wouldn't eat) I want to get them transitioned as quickly as I can. Once I have all the ingredients & scale I'll sign up for the mentor program. Thank so much for your advice. ~Heidi, Rosco & Boss

Definitely you can start with just the meat and eggshell To grind the eggshell, rinse them, let them dry for a day or so, then either use a mortar and pestle or a clean coffee grinder. The reason we make the soup as balanced as it is, is because some switches take a lot longer than others. Read through the switching threads to get an idea of where you are going, and continue to post your progress(or lack of it!) here. We'll all pop in with ideas

Thank you so much, Sherry! I'll get the eggs cleaned out tonight so they can start drying. Then I'll try & run by Walmart tomorrow. Maybe they have more of a selection than Smiths had.
