Hey- whatever!!! He has made SUCH a huge leap! Just an FYI- I had to hand feed puréed liver/organ to my original 4 weekly for almost a year before the sucks would eat them alone I looked on it as bonding time Keep pushing him a bit a few times a week. And keep offering bone in meats even if you have to chop them

Absolutely on the bone in meats, that's what we've been doing. I'll get a wing or a leg of some animal and chop it real good for him so the bones are in a small pieces. We figure his jaw will strength soon enough.
And for the organs, they're usually not too too picky as long as I make the soup just right. Also by having chicken / rabbit organs over pig or cow ive noticed the smell is less overwhelming so maybe they just prefer the lesser smelling lol, regardless will be keeping it all up! The most comical thing now to watch is Steve and Sahara constantly, I mean full time moving there meat stash back and forth on each other...so silly!
Thank you again!

It really is funny to watch! Have you had any food fights yet?

Well no fighting, just ridiculous chasing of each other with meat in there mouth.
Steve is picky about what pieces of chicken he'll eat ( of course he would.be... ) so just slow and steady, giving him his ground mix for organ and bone requirements still as well as he doesn't seem.to show any interest in hearts or organs.
Sahara is all the same!
Thank you'll

Hey- the more he plays chase the higher the odds of him eating them

Steve is still doing pretty good at eating chunks of chicken. We've tried hearts and hw sniffs and sniffs but no go. I have sardine and herring oil that he goes crazy for so I try that on the heart and he just licks ot all off and leaves the heart, but!! This is how we started him on chunks of chicken so with some patience and persistence o think well have him eating heart and all in no time!!
Sahara, well that cutie is still all good and no issues, she takes in whole mouse's, and any other meat we throw at her! (not literally...)
Still no fights but lots of meat stashing and swapping!

He really is coming along quickly It's so nice to see! With the heart what you may wind up doing is mincing it very finely and mixing a few bits in with his regular meat. Not a lot, just 4-6 tiny slivers so he has to get the taste, and slowly increasing from there. Do this with every meal. The other option is to make a soup of the heart(same with liver/kidney or other organs) and hand feed until he gets used to it, then essentially do a transition like with the meat. Either of these methods will get him eating it more quickly. Do the same with his organ meats as well. It's also a good time to introduce him to other proteins now.

In regard to the other proteins, he's been getting a rotation! Just as far as *chunk meat goes it was just chicken, well be trying rabbit and others in *chunk form for him after the move. Were going to be driving to Florida Tommorow night from MA with both him.and Sahara so trying to keep all new stress or changes low for now. Especially since its a permanent move.
Also in regards to the heart / organ. We've also been change the species of animal that the heart / organ come from so that he doesn't get too picky so that's good. Hrs also been eating the heart/organ mix we make them. but I like the idea of mixing small.pieces into his dinner casually. Well do that!
As far as Sahara! Is she done for all intensive purposes? I'm guessing for her now a whole prey diet would be the easiest? / best? She takes any meats given quite willingly and anxious for more. Also when we tried the mice for her she took and ate them with no apparent issues at all, fur included.
Thank you!!

Hello from sunny south Florida!
We made the drive just fine with my fishy friends included!!
The fuzz butts seemed just fine the whole ride,we did it in ~23 hrs and we stopped for them probably 5 times to play. They both seems great spirited, eating fine and pooping fine.
Steve ate a whole mouse again! Its so great watching. I dont even have to cut the mouse, just eats!
Keeping diet all the same otherwise, we brought all our meat with us!
I'm thinking soon we should try larger whole prey for them? Like fowl, cavie, etc?

STEVE ate the mouse? OMG! Yes, by all means try larger prey if you like. One tip? Remove the entire digestive tract before giving it to them . They WILL remove it themselves and you will NOT like what they do with it

Yes, Steve took in and takes in readily whole medium mice. Its amazing....were both so, so, so, so utterly shocked. The only thing we can think is that Steve must've gotten mice in the house or such and we haven't noticed it. So that when we gave them to him is was familiar..because he's not a big fan of red meats really, but he still eats his poultry meats.
Also as far as the entrails, im guessing we should do this with all and any whole prey? Because the past 3 mice we've fed him we have not removed anything. The only thing we've found in the cage is a dried something that resembled poop, this is what im guessing was the entrails.
I thank you again, and the fuzzies are settling in jusssst fine!

Yep- that was the digestive tract That's what I find ultimately decorating the cage, my walls, my floors, and in the 3 level my ceiling
