I'll be continuing with the switch However I've asked the others to check into my threads as I live in Calgary and there is still a chance of an electrical transformer blowing. You will still likely have to cut them open to show the goodies inside Let me know what happens!

Okie dokie I gotcha, well thank you then everyone.
so, I do believe Sahara ate the fuzzy we got her, we had to cut it open a little and sure enough she dragged it away to her spot!
Haven't found the mouse's corpse or any remnants so unless its hidden good I dont know where itd be. So we grabbed her some pinkies and tried those, figured maybe smaller and easier to eat for her. Sure enough she grabbed those with no hesitation eathier. Probably going to be eaten tonight into tommorow so ill update with how that goes.
Steve is again maintaining his ground food....we continue to try giving small, small, small slivers and just no go....so as of now his food and all remains the same.
In 2-3 weeks well be droving and moving down to Florida for good, already found a vet there and going to do the des. Treatment down there...
Thank you all~

Okay, not too bad With Steve is the plan still to introduce chunks, etc? If so try just starting with 2-3 slivers just a bit larger than the grind he's now eating. As he accepts those increase the number very slowly.

Updates? I need you to be posting in a couple of times a week yet given that they aren't on a balanced diet, or I'm going to have to vault the thread.

Oh no! Sorry I honestly could've sworn I posted via my phone. Ok, ill post more regularly..just as we stated hectic due to the move but still no excuse.
In regards to Steve yes, this is where we left off with katt. In the sence that we've been slowly mixing in larger pieces or grinds of meat for him, it just seems he's very touchy...literally do a sliver or two too many and he won't eat it. But we know persistence will win!
For Sahara she has taken the pinkies and hopper we gave her with no problem, so just continue to offer her a variety of chunk meat? Or keep giving her frozen mice?
Thank you so much and we apologize greatly for not being more attentive to the posting requitements...

That's fine What I really need you to do is post a full menu for Sahara to make sure her diet is balanced. With Steve since this has been a long switch I suggest picking up some commercial raw grinds to use as a base for now so he also has a balanced diet until he's eating larger pieces

Absolutely! I'll re-write the list in the morning. We have it all on page 6 or 7 I do believe...but ill Wright a whole new one in the morning. Just with the move so.soon we've shut off the internet in our apartment so posting has all.been done via cell phones. I'll get on a laptop tommorow.to.do the list!
So far Steve is eating fine and bowls fine.
Sahara took her chunks food as normal.

Sounds good! You say Steve is eating fine? I gather you are still using the balanced soup then?

So, to answer your question initially with Sahara - 16oz meat, 3oz organ, and 5oz heart. She's getting about 1.5 meals of organ and 1.4 meals of heart weekly. Within the meats she's getting between 6-10 meals of bone in meat a week. We feed her before we put down steve's ground food from HAre today, this was all advice given from Kat. Same goes with the amounts. Most of this is copied from page 7. Her meals are varied as far as what species we feed her, I provided a list of the types of meats and if we can get kidney or organ. Alot of it is ordered through Hare today though. Beef - any muscle cut, tounge, lung, heart Lamb Rabbit - organs as well - AND whole ground with organ ( hare today ) Duck Chicken - liver / kidney / gizzards / heart / organ - AND Ground WHOLE carcass and organ ( Hare today ) Hen Pork - heart / kidney / liver Goat - Whole carcass ground commercial ( hair today ) Cavie Mouse - recently as suggested by you. Sahara seems to take the whole pinky/hopper and it's gone ~1-2 days. I've also mixed in a few into steves food ( ground of course ) and he didn't seem to have issues. With steve now... Yes, we've talked with Kat. about getting a commercial raw. What we did was actually ordered the ' whole carcass and organ ' grinds from there. This is all quoted from page 10 on this thread from Katt. These are the exact grinds that we ordered for Steve. "Rabbit is another one that is spendy, but super nutritious. This would be a completely balanced meal as it is the whole rabbit. www.hare-today.com/product_info.php?cPath=21_35&products_id=114Read more: holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/10834?page=10#ixzz2Yg4s5u9c" " Goat is very expensive, but VERY good for them. Either of these grinds would be well balanced as it is the entire goat. www.hare-today.com/product_info.php?cPath=21_33&products_id=54Read more: holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/10834?page=10#ixzz2Yg55yXjE" " VERY good source of organs and heart. 2-3 meals of this a week should satisfy their organ and heart requirements, esp when fed in addition to the other meats. www.hare-today.com/product_info.php?cPath=21_45&products_id=234Read more: holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/10834?page=10#ixzz2Yg5C8pmL" We also ordered the whole chicken ground and a few other grounds. So we're feeding him portions of that now, he's eating just the ground now as I mix it into just a bowl of ground meaty mush, and if he doesn't get the bone mix I ordered from Hare today I'll supplement bone meal for him - 1/4-1/2 tsp for him per day as long as stools are ok. So, sorry for alot of confusing posting just alot of this information is in the thread so I just threw it back up here. With steve currently were just increasing the size of grind and slivers within his food and slowly...he's very quick to notice change so slow and steady. Sahara, well we are just maintaining the same as above. Thank you! Edit: were also aware with Steve that due to his lack of bone eating we need to be brushing his teeth, I just wanted to include that that has been getting done.

Actually it all looks really good! So the biggest concern is just getting Steve past his stubborn stage and onto the chunk meats then. Are you trying to 2-3 slivers just a bit larger than the grinds? If he's taking those because he's not noticing the difference then start increasing the number by 2-3 every couple of days. Once it's about 1/2 and 1/2 then you can start very slowly increasing the size.

Thank you! Sorry its a mess all over the place but yes, Steve has been taking the grinds with some small slivers. We've been increasing very, very slowly the chunks, once were at a mostly chunk meal then like you said, we planned on increasing size of meat.
so for Sahara just keep up the same?
Thank you again!

Yes, her diet looks good Are you comfortable with the size pieces she's eating? If not you can always work at increasing them

Yeah, we've been increasing her pieces as well...no rush in that though as she's doing excellent anyway. Just makes cutting easier on us lol!
On a side note, as you know we've fed Sahara some hoppers recently. Well, she leaves the bodies for snacks later...steve stumbled upon a carcass and I kid you not, he sat there and devoured the whole body...fur and all with NO issues.
So with that said we were both in disbelief that he would actually eat anything other than his ground food! So I tried putting down a nice chunk of chicken for him...and once again he scooped it up and devoured it. So, for the next few days were going to be playing with Steve and chunks of food because seriously its unbelievable that he's suddenly eating chunks.
Thank you and well keep you updated

OMG (dance) (dance) (dance) THAT IS AMAZING NEWS!!! You go Steve (excited) It might just be that he's seen her eating the mice and chunks and it's been a case of monkey see monkey do That frequently happens. Myself, I'd now try giving them both the same diet and see how he does

Thank you!!!
I tell you, honestly it was one of those so shocking news that I called my gf while she was working and just had to ramble on about what a big boy he is!
For the record he continued today with some chunks of chicken again. You can tell his muscles are just coming in because it'll take him awhile with piece size. Also he shows NO interest in heart or organ chunks so that'll still be a slow progress but were working with him now that we know and have seen him!!
Thank you again!
