I' m working up a "booklet" for adoptors that will include information on raw feeding. My question is in regards to ruffage. Since I feed rabbit with the fur in the mix from hare today, I don' t really worry about it. Does pumpkin need added if feeding natures variety instinct? That is the most common frozen in stores here. Here is the info I' m looking at right now:
2 feedings per day, best amount has a tiny bit left over - 3+ animal sources, ex. chicken, beef, rabbit, turkey, pork, mice, etc. - 3 meals of raw chicken wings per week for great tooth care - 1 meal hearts per week, chicken or beef are easy to find - remaining meals, commercial raw, natures variety instinct from several meat sources. commercial raw must include a balance between muscle, organs, hearts, bones - 2-6 oz. typically per day depending on gender and time of year
I want to keep it simple so more people will be willing to feed raw, but can do it correctly.

Since most commercial raws already have about 5% fiber they are fine. If not, approximately 1/2 tsp pumpkin per ferret a day.

I add a few teaspoons of pumpkin into the menu during shedding season in addition to what it is in the commercial grinds just to be safe.
