Sorry it took a few days for me to write this...
So, Lyla's been sick since august with some unknown disease. I did just about everything I could during those 4 months, every day wondering if I'd find her gone in her sleep the next morning...
But she held on for a long time. On thrusday the 20th of December, she was fine, ate in the evening, and fought me as I force fed her a bit more...
But something happened overnight. The next morning she was laying by the litter box, very weird and breathing funny. Phil found her as he was heading to the gym. I got up and took her to bed with me. I offered some water the way she liked it most - through kisses... she wanted none. All she'd do is lay her nose on my lips and look me in the eyes...
Then I wondered if her blood sugar may be going down as it had once before when she hadn't eaten in a long time, but she would not even try to lap the syrup. And she was not at all acting as she had that past time...
When Phil came back, we decided we'd both go into work late to stay with her an hour, see if things would get any better. As they did not, we took the decision that this was it. If she wouldn't take any water through kisses, something was very wrong.
So we called up the vet, and we brought her in. It wasn't too long before she left us. She just looked like she was sleeping...
We are waiting to get her little ashes back.
In the meantime, Phil wanted to make a little obituary for her. As most of our family speaks french, but most of our friends speak english, we made it in both languages.
The picture was taken that very morning in my bed. When we knew we would be helping her along, we took a few last pictures, and one turned out very good.
So here it is:
