Vet is very happy with his activity level and appearance! He's gained some weight again(from 860 to 890 grams in 10 days!!!) Since we've found his triggers seem to be any sort of fowl, it's now OFF the menu entirely- this includes chicken, turkey, cgh AND duck. She also seems to think that his IBD can be controlled(for now) with diet, supplements, and the occasional administration of metro. I was quite surprised- she's really interested in how he does on the supplements he's getting, especially the reishi. So I'm to keep her updated on that. She also thinks his prognosis is really good, as long as we can keep his IBD basically controlled with diet. And the best part that I found out tonight? They have someone training in holistic care!!!!! Although she's not overly familiar with ferrets right now, the owner of the clinic(my vet) is a "ferret person", and the vice president of the local rescue, so there shouldn't be any problem with accessing her knowledge of holistic treatments, and having her work with the ferret vets on it

I'm so glad that things are looking good for the little guy. I'm really rooting for him. He's got to beat the odds, that's why he's such a stubborn little poop ciao

That is great. . I have been giving Sonny reishi called "lifeshield reishi" from new chapter organic but is it "red reishi"? Is red reishi different or better? What is the difference? I think I'm going to stop giving Sonny lamb. He loves it -but his poops look really funny and seedy after he eats it. Sometimes funny colors and slimy too. When he eats chicken, turkey, duck, beef, his poops are fine. So weird because usually it is chicken or other foul that causes problems.

YAY Boris!!!!! That's good news Red Reishi is different. I "good red reishi" is touted a being better than a "good reishi" (non-red). A "bad red reishi" will not be as good a "good reishi" (non-red). New Chapter/Life Shield reishi has been very effective on my kids, I don't think it has red reishi in it. I have not tried any brand of red reishi. With lamb, this issue is more likely high fat content in the meat and/or inability to beak down the fats in the lamb. I suspect that sprinkling pancreatic enzymes on the meat and letting the food "pre-digest" in the fridge over night/day will help with digestion. Gotta run, jennifer
