My baby girl Pixie (about 2 years old) has been sorta lethargic lately. She is eating/pooping/drinking etc fine. And still plays with her two sisters. She just has been sorta lazy lately. She is also getting quite chubby! I posted a while back about Pixie being skinny, but that is not the case anymore! She even has small rolls on her neck Anyway, she has no other symptoms. Can this lethargy be due to adrenal? If so, would lupron/des/melatonin help with her lethargy? Should I be concerned about something else? I really don't think it's insulinoma... She was only on kibble for a year and it was fairly high quality (Zupreem, Vitalin, Evo and wysong II).

I'd also like to add that she is shedding, but that's to be expected. She also has the silkest smooth coat ever. It's soo soft!

don't worry about that. sometime ferrets just get lazy. when they gain some weight they become even more lazy. if pooping, eating, fine then i would think it is just one of the many phases that they go through. yes, adrenal disease can make a ferret lethargic. but they would also lose weight. i have never seen a ferret be lethargic from adrenal disease and be a fatty.

Is there anything else besides adrenal I should be concerned about? Weight gain + lethargy = ??

I wouldn't worry, if she seems normal otherwise, she's probably just being lazy, mine go through phases where they seem to sleep more and not really run around and I freak out and turns out they are fine. Ferrets, always messing with your head!

i can't think of anything else that you should be worrying about. just enjoy your fat and lazy ferret. LOL. btw, Sonny (who is now 8 months old) has also become a lazy chunker recently.

I can't think of anything either, Jackie. She's just being a brat and worrying her momma Why not try to get her more active? If she starts to drop a bit of the fat, she might become more active again.

I usually take her on one on one walks outside, but I'm waiting until the flea issue is handled. I will definitely try to get her more active!

Try a cat teaser! I was able to get my squishy Vincent to lose a good bit of weight buy dragging his favourite teaser up and down the stairs
