I was just wondering if i feed them all whole rabbit, quail rat etc... do they need a raw meat blend as well or is the whole good for them?

My guys eat a mixture of various sizes, textures and proteins. They eat ground commercial (more exotic flavours, bison, elk, boar), my own grind to make sure they get enough organ meats (I've got a couple who have texture issues in regards to liver and kidneys), frankenprey (any meats you would normally buy at the grocery except smoked or salted) and whole prey (at the moment mice, chicks and rabbit) ciao

The more protein sources the better. I guess you could technically do all whole prey but it would be expensive. I tend to do frankenprey and supplement a few meals a week of whole prey.

An all whole prey diet is considered the ideal for a ferret. However- what happens if your supplier goes out of business with no warning? It does happen, or shipments don't come through on time, or any other of a variety of reasons. At least if they are used to eating grocery store meats, you KNOW you've got a fall back. Besides all whole prey being so expensive!

Whole prey is very expensive.....and yes loosing a supplier happens and it's always overnight. I had my rabbit supplier decide that it was way too much work and heartbreak. She handed my about 9 rabbits, and when I remarked at the size she said those are my breeders. You've got all that's left. What no more bunnies?....no....new supplier? The other side of Barrie, 4 hrs away. Not going to happen ciao
