Ok, over the next week or so I'll track exactly what and how much (by weight) I feed them and then post a formal menu.

Lol, it doesn't look like introducing guinea pig's are going to be a problem. I grabbed one out of the freezer in their room and some ground chicken / turkey to thaw out for tomorrow. I had to grab Wilma to prevent her from escaping when I was opening / closing the baby gate. So I had the guinea pig, the bag of frozen ground and Wilma in one arm. Wilma lunged at the frozen guinea pig, grabbed it by the neck and did the prey killing head shake. ;D

Well pork tail is definately not a hit. I put some out plus some ground chicken / turkey when I got home and they didn't touch anything. Left if for a few hours to see if they would get hungry but they didn't even pull anything off the plate to eat later. I replaced it with a mix of bone in chicken and quail. Result? Witnessed my first hissing match over food. ;D

;D Love the food fights! And yeah- they also have preferences. It's simply a matter of learning what they really DON'T like, as compared to simply holding out on something they WILL eat but are waiting for something better ;D

Yeah they are not thrilled (they do eat it though) with turkey neck but I like putting it out as they have to really gnaw on the bones to get all the meat off. Good for their teeth. From what I've seen they really only consume the bones from the chicken and quail (maybe a bit from the turkey necks but not much).
I had some tarry stools again in the box today but the were pretty small (nothing like the other day). I'm going to keep an eye on it and mention it to my vet when we see him again on Monday. They haven't had any organs since Tuesday morning.

As they get more experienced, and develop better jaw strength, you'll be amazed at just how MUCH of the turkey neck bone they'll be able to eat In the interim, just chop the bejeepers out of them.

Yep Wilma definitely likes her guinea pig. She stole all the pieces off the plate and what she didn't eat she hid from Socks ;D I'm going to split their organ meal over the next three meals to see if I can prevent a flare up of her back end. Also, man those piggies smell when you cut them up and cut through their large intestines! I don't know about GP, but that goes for rabbit as well!

Would they be missing anything nutritionally if I cut the gut open and removed the large intestine before chopping them up?

Not in the least! Most do remove the digestive tract before feeding. As a rule they won't eat it anyway.

Lol, Socks has now learned from Wilma how to bang the empty plate when she is hungry.

What a brat ;D Suki has to have a very large heavy ceramic dog dish for her mince. She immediately turns anything else upside down, and has actually broken a dish before Silly girl, the dish is now much larger than she is!

Ooops. So today I decided I was going to make a big batch of chicken stock for the winter. I decided to supplemental it with some chicken backs and carcasses I knew I had in the girls freezer. Well I just went to check on the stock's progress and it turns out I added two chopped up rabbits!! Oh, well I guess it will be rabbit / chicken stock and not be as frugal as usual. ;D
