Lincoln has a huge hole (about size of end of pinky) and it looks like it had scabbed over or something and is ripped off now.
Its not GUSHING blood but it is bleeding a bit and it looks horrible....I have no idea when he got it.
What do I do?

Do you have some peroxide? Some polysporin? I don't think you will get a bandaid to stay on the fuzz ciao

I do have peroxide, but won't that hurt?
Also, it looks as if a chunk of skin was ripped off (hair and all) and is dangling there. The fur around it is all matted and putting water on it didn't do anything to help clear it so I can see what is actually going on.

you could wet a towel and hold it on the wound to try to clean it up but that might cause it to bleed more - you could do this in the morning after it has scabbed up some. Can you wrap gauze or something around the wound ?

I would leave the skin hanging alone til the next day

He doesn't seem bothered by it so I have just kept a close eye and separated him. It's already beginning to turn brown and seems to be clotting over. I'm going to keep an eye on it for the next hour to see how it does, then Ive got some gauze I can put on it.
How do I apply the gauze? Just wrap it around his waist? (it's a little ways down his right side underneath the armpit area) I'm mostly worried about the hanging skin as I don't want it to rip off (still attached by a large piece of skin), hence the gauze.

I would just wrap it around him (not too tight of course). Poor fuzzy, I wonder what he did

wrap it around his waist and maybe the arm like a harness ? And maybe wrap a paper towel around it so the gauze will not catch on anything

No paper towel. He's more likely to try to eat this than not. Put on the gauze wrapped around, then take a child's sock, cut the toe and heel out. Head goes out the toe, front legs out the heel. The rest should stay snug enough as long as he doesn't work at pulling it off. But make sure to put polysporin or something on it first so the gauze doesn't stick to the wound.

Do you have vet wrap? That might help if you did polysporin, gauze, vet wrap, sock... poor baby, do you think it needs stitches?

It has stopped bleeding all ready and it doesn't seem to be too deep. Really no idea what happened I did the gauze and sock. Thank you, Sherry! He seems perfectly fine at least. Just don't want that thing being pulled off until it's ready to come off on it's own. I'll update tomorrow.
