May I get the raw feeder note under my name? I can't see to see where to add it.

I've been feeding mostly Natrue's Variety, switching between duck, chicken, and beef. I've offered beef heart once a week, kidney's and liver, three times a week, and, chicken breast or chicken wings on other days. I don't have a day to day schedule as I am slowly moving towards more frankenprey, but I do ensure they get a fully balanced diet over the course of a week. Oh, they have also had pieces of whole adult mice chooped cleaver style.

Okay- given that commercial raw is bone in, as is whole prey, what would the ratio be? Our concern is making sure that since they DO eat commercial raw(how many meals a week approximately?) that you aren't overdoing the bone or organ, and that they are getting a supplement of heart or taurine.

My crew is averaging about 3.5 ounces a day. I usually have a bite or two left over as I try to put in 8 oz each feeding. The dogs love the new routine as they get the left overs. I'd put the commercial at half to two-thirds of weekly meals. If I feed bone, it is in the form of chicken wings or mice. I've provided a meal of heart every week to ensure they get enough taurine. I just got my hands on some rabbit organs and whole cleaned rabbit today. I'm going to give them a try on that soon, but won't over do it each week as it is a low fat meat. I've nearly convinced hubby that it is time to buy the deep freezer. A few more things out of the garage and we'll have one. I should also mention/brag on him that Samwise, my very thin brittle wire haired rescue is packign on some weight and was told he has silky fur by one of the people who adopted Blackjack. It is so nice to see the change in them. Let me know if you have any other questions or if you see something that I need to tweek.

So, let me see if I've got this straight. You are presently feeding 3 proteins, and will be feeding a fourth. Including the commercial raw, mice, and wings they get 7-9 bone meals a week. One meal of additional heart a week. With the additional liver/kidney are they only getting about an ounce if each a week? That would be what they'd need in additional to the CR. That would leave 4-6 meals which would be split between the wings and muscle meat.

Actually I gave them a full meal of kidney and a full meal of liver. Too much with the commercial in the mix? Other than that, what you have sounds right. On a side note, any suggestions on how to prepare the rabbit for them? I'm assuming most of the bones will be too big for them right now so I'm thinking of taking a mallet to the bones to reduce the size, but figure asking first is good policy.

If they are getting full ervings of 2 oz of each weekly, then yes- cut it in half Save yourself some loose stools. As for the rabbit, try smashing the weight bearing bones with a mallet or cleaver and simply serve in whatever size you normally do. If they turn their precious spoiled little noses up at it, cut a few pieces quite small and mix them in with their favourite meat ;D
