I'm freaking out.
I was cleaning poops and found a mucousy poop with what looked to be teeny small bone shards in it, one of which had a red spot (blood-ish looking). I immediately go into ferret-check mode.
Freya -- fine. Marley -- fine.
Soxx -- hint of a blue spot on the belly, a bit above his wee-wee. Mom confirms that she saw it too. Right in the middle of his belly. Might be a little raised but I'm not sure, I could be imagining it in paranoia. Doesn't seem too fond of me touching it, but it *is* right above his weewee.
He's walking fine, bent in half fine to scratch an itch on his hind leg. Gums are pink. Breathing might be a little heavy.
Now he's curled up in the toybox. Freya climbed in and is snuggling with him. They snuggle alot, but never in the toybox before.
I called the vets emergency pager, told him all this. He said he didn't think he needed to be rushed in tonight, but keep a close eye on him.
What do you guys think??? I am trying to get pics.

I've seen that on my males fairly regularly. That, if I remember correctly, is a vein. It's not uncommon. I don't think I'd worry about it

It does seem to go rather in a straight line here is a pic: I'm not sure if his spleen feels enlarged, I can't feel any distinct bumps or lumps. He was just running around and trying to get into my camera case so I think I may be over-reacting

As for the red in his stool- what did they have for the meal just prior? If it wasn't blood rich he may have just eaten a bit of fluff from something. Ours do that on a fairly regular basis

Update: Soxx is alive & well this morning!!! Chasing after Freya at the moment Let's see...they'd had HareToday ground rabbit w/bone. I can't remember if I'd already given them the (also HT ground) chicken before I found that poop or not, I think I had. I've been adding eggshell to the ground and it seems to be improving poops (for the most part). They ate ~6oz of rabbit yesterday, then I gave maybe 6oz of chicken last night (100% gone) I had just checked all the toys yesterday morning for nibblings and holes but didn't see anything. Maybe he got it from scritching the bedding (much more likely), because he doesn't really go for toys anyway, but scratches like a madfert when bedding down... Oh and no suspicious poops overnight, either.

I've never seen that vein but all my boys have a lovely dark line of fur just there.
With my first ferret (back before I had internet) I rushed him to the vet terrified he had adrenal because he was losing fur. The vet informed me he was just shedding. You might feel like a fool at the time (and every ferrent does something like this at least once) but it's so much better when the emergency you thought you had is just normal.
Glad Soxx is fine

Whichever pooped that red bit out likely just accidently swallowed a bit of red fluff then Glad everyone is doing well, and please- NEVER be afraid to post something in a panic if you think there might be something wrong!

haha... All too right, Thérèse! I rushed my first ferret into the vet after he got a hold of a 'puff ball' mushroom. He managed to get his head inside the mushroom and his face/nose mouth/throat were COVERED in the blueish spores. I naturally spazzed and rushed him to the vet. During the ride he kept falling asleep, which despite the fact he LOVES to nap on car rides... did not reassure me and I kept thinking he was slipping away. I jostled and bounced the poor thing until we reached the vet. .... Where he perked up and just wanted to explore. Turns out.... all perfectly harmless. STILL .. Better to be safe and seem a fool, then let something potentially dangerous slip by. Glad it's just the vein, Freya... you're a great pet owner for looking so closely after your little ones. ^.^

I think my vet is convinced I'm insane after rushing ferrets to her a couple of times, only for it to turn out it was "nothing". Or at least, nothing they could treat. Like with Artemis's beef allergy. By the time he got to the vet his breathing was normal again and the pain mostly subsided.
