Heather I considered that as well. There's no blood in his poop though, thank heavens.

Oops just saw your other post. Vet won't be in until 7pm tonight. He seems to be perking up a little more, but still a bit lethargic. I'm watching him closely and I'll prob give the vet a call when she gets in tonight. I have an appointment for the babies on Friday to get their diarrhea and ear mites checked out.

Koda is doing much better tonight. He is still eating well, and is using the bathroom normally. I put him back with Kenai so they'd be less stressed out. He is much more alert and is scrambling to be let out of the cage, and wiggling to be put down to explore like his usual self. When I let him out earlier this afternoon he wasn't quite as active as he usually is, but he was much better. I didn't let him out tonight, but he seemed much better than this afternoon. His face looks happy and alert again, no more squinty eyes. I am not letting my guard down just yet, but I am so relieved and happy that he seems to be doing better. *knock on wood*

Sounds like the kits may have some sort of gastrointestinal flu and spread it to koda. I am glad he is better.

That's quite possible. I'm glad he's doing so much better and finger's crossed he continues to improve

In the 90's when that really bad strain of ECE was going around and killing alot of older ferrets, i brought a kit home from pet supermarket and he infected everyone else. that SUCKED!

I"m thinking that Marshals must have had another outbreak because just about every one that has bought a new kit recently has brought home an ECE type infection. Things had been fairly quiet for a time. Unfortunately, quarantining doesn't do anything because as soon as the new ferret is introduced because they're a carrier they infect the existing business. ciao

AND you know that the petstores do a crap job of cleaning and disinfecting those ferret pens at the store. New ferrets come in and they just toss them right in there

I"m thinking that Marshals must have had another outbreak because just about every one that has bought a new kit recently has brought home an ECE type infection. I was thinking the same thing. Too many people reporting gastrointrstinal issues after going to buckeye bash with their ferrets and after bringing in recent store bought kits.

Heather yes lump is still there, I'm going to try to bring him by the vet tonight. They said they'd take a quick look at it at no charge to be sure it's nothingto be concerned about.

That's good they'll do that. I'm wondering if it's scar tissue.

I REALLY hope it's nothing. To be honest I don't even want to bring him in - ignorance is bliss... Too bad I know better. Blah. I'm praying it's nothing and they send us home with a thumbs up. I just can't handle any more problems this week. Or month. Or preferably YEAR for that matter! I hope it's either scar tissue or the suture line. We're leaving as soon as Shane get here sk fingers crossed an hopefully we can have an update soon.
